Ok guys, I've been trawling through the posts on TP on this topic, I've looked at the reviews on hostelz.com, and all it's done for me is make my head spin!! So I need some straight up answers: All Nations, yes or no?? Their website makes it look great, but I've seen so many negative comments on it that you've got to wonder...

I'm looking for a hostel in Melbourne, I will be arriving in March and am wanting to pick up work straight away. Someone point me in the right direction, I'll certainly appreciate it

NNNOOOOOOO!!!!! I think that should be clear enough of my view on the place!

If you can put up with a really trashy place, it might be an alright place for you to spend a couple of days, because when I stayed a couple of years ago it had this working office thing which helped people on WHV a bit, but it would definitely be adviseable not to make it a home for too long.

We ended up stopping at two hostels in Melbourne. The first was Connection Backpackers on King St which was alright, it wasn't the cleanest but the atmosphere was really good, you got free tea, coffee and cereal, they had a cheap pizza night and they had three 'social' rooms. The second was King St Backpackers, this was cleaner and you don't have to ask for the air con to be switched on (unlike Connections) but they do 16 bed dorms which just seem a bit too big, you do get free tea, coffee and cereal at this place too PLUS on Tuesday mornings you get a free big fry up type breakfast. They're both really really close to the Train Station (the one where the airport shuttle drops you off) and to all the bars etc in town - they're quite reasonably priced too!
