Hi,

I heard it is possible to get a visa at Phnom penh airport and that it is actually cheaper than doing it at the land borders, is this true? Also do they add any extra charges as you have no alternative but to buy it there once you have arrived.

Cheers

Chris

I don't know if its possible or not.

In Bangkok at the embasy the visa cost 20$ (one Year a go) this is the official price wich is printet on the visa stiker. At the landborder they charge 25$ so the diference is not so big and cheaper than 20 bucks is not possible ... I think.

Have a good trip...

Chris,
Yes it is possible to get your Cambodian visa when you arrive at the PP or Siem Reap airport. Get in line, fill out the form, hand over your visa photo and $20, receive your 30 day visa. Simple.

Yes, it is cheaper at the airport than the land crossings with Thailand. The Cambo IMM. officials are crooks and demand payment in Thai baht. They were charging 1,100-1,300 baht for a $20 visa. At todays exchange rate, that is over $30 for the visa. They pocket the difference. Simple greed.

You also have another option. You can apply for your Cam. visa online. It costs $25 but is valid only at the PP and Siem Reap airports. No real advantage except not standing in line.

Best advice; if flying, just get your visa on arrival. If using the Poipet or Koh Kong land crossing, get your visa beforehand if possible. Have a great trip.

Cheers Mike,

Will get the visa at the airport then. We are flying in this time, did the poipet crossing last time, but I think the bus ride from there to Siem Reap is definitely worth avoiding if possible!

I got my visa in Poipet border last December and it's true a Cambodian man that is outside of the immigration office will demand you to pay 1000 bath but also there is a notice that say "Tourist visa= 20 dollars" so, you can also demand to pay just 20 dollars. I did it and it worked.

Thanks for pointing this out. My friend went through this crossing in Dec. and paid the $20 as well. He speaks some Khmer and is a tough guy to cheat. The Hat Lek/Koh Kong border is another story. Tough group of guys and you must be very insistant to actually pay the $20. I also checked with the Cambodian Ministry and they do accept the e-visa at the land crossings now. It is $25, but that is still less than 1,000 baht.
