grkostas has indicated that this thread is about Cyprus

Hi all,

I wonder why this place has not many people talking about cyprus. Cyprus is a place of interest for hundreds of thousands of poeple. So why not start a new cyprus thread?

Grkostas,
I agree that it's a shame people on this site don't talk about Cyprus much - they really don't know what they're missing. My guess is, the reason Cyprus seems to be unpopular is because the majority of Travellerspoint members are people from outside Europe, who visit Europe once every few years, and so when they do they want to visit as much of it as possible, as soon and conveniently as possible. The truth is, Cyprus happens to be a bit separated from the rest of Europe, and so someone who's running on a low budget or has a tight schedule will prefer to visit countries that are closer together and are thus more easily accessible. To be honest, that's understandable; I would probably do the same if were them and I didn't know. The point is, I wish people knew how pretty Cyprus is - maybe then they'd want to visit it more.

The main reason is not that people are from outside europe at all. If this might be the case, there are loads of people from Europe here at TP.
The main reason could be that Cyprus is mainly visited as a package tour, where flights and hotel an maybe car rental are all included in the price. Not many solo travelers go there, because they don't want to be confronted with all those white socks from Europe.
And anyway, it's just a bit of Greece and Turkey anyway, so why bother...;)

Hello Grkostas

U can start a thread, about any country u want.
U can even write a blog, to tell us all about Cyprus, if u want.

Although, I get the impression, that Cyprus is now mainly a package tourist destination, from what I hear about it.

thank you all for giving some attention , to be honest cyprus is much more beautiful than what some of us think. And though u may call it a tourist package, still cyprus is much more than a mediterranean Island. Its history of being invaded by many westerns and easterns combined with its one of a kind position in the mediterranean and the honest helpful friendly people makes it a unique place to visit.
Its a place to visit for everyone . families as well as teenagers. In winter and in summer!!!! ALL YEAR ROUND FUN
i am thinking of starting a blog here to share my knowledge about cyprus (the greek side mainly) and working on with some friends on a new website that will be a personal guide and not an ADVERTISMENT or COPIED material . Its soloely our experience and the experience of our friends who are always in contact with us.
Tell me wut you think and advise please.

I am always interested, in hearing more about places.
Maybe, it will persuade me to go.
However, flights to Cyprus are usually expensive, like many heavily touristed destinations.

i am posting information on other forums too thats why i am slow in replying. I am trying to see what are the best cyprus sites that might be benificial to travelers. And just sites that sell you ads or want you there for click counters.
I dont know if i can post here a link or two , someone can advise about this subject?

Hello grkostas

Go to the system forum, and ask there, if posting links is allowed.
I think it is OK, as long as you are not advertising something, for self gain.

Posting links is generally frowned upon in the sites we ask members use the Messenging Centre - we usually turn a blind eye to Respected Members or Travel Gurus posting links.

But as Mel said as long as you are not advertising or promoting anything you will generally be ok.

Thanks

Heather

Ok , i posted on the system talk a question about this subject , and waiting for their reply to be more sure. I dont want to be considered a spammer cuz i am not. and i dont want to disrupt my respectfulness among the people here by doing anything wrong. So i guess ill make sure first that it is very ok then ill post a couple of useful links.
