How much does it cost to live in Amsterdam.

If I received a salary of about 42,000 UK pounds a year, could i expect a nice apartment, and a fairly decent lifestyle?

How much tax would i pay on 3,500 pound a month?

Yes, i'm too lazy too search around on the internet for my answers!!!

I think a nice appartment will set you back around 800 UK pounds a month.
Tax depends on your income of course, but expect to pay close to 40% on tax on average. The first part of your income will be around 35%, then its 42%. Don't know where the line is drawn exactly.
But with your salary you can live very decent....unless you want to have a big car as well....;)

Thanks for that,

tax is a little more than i expected to hear actually, so is the cost of an apartment. Am i right to assume the cost of living is generally a little less than living in the UK??

If you earn 42,000 GBP, then expect a hefty 42% income tax, so with 3,500 GBP per month you would lose 1,500 GBP. Still, that's a comfy salary. Overall the cost of living in the Netherlands is indeed lower than in England, although the price level of individual items differs considerably.
