Is this pack a top loader?

Travel Forums Travel Gear Is this pack a top loader?

Can anyone tell me whether this backpack is a toploader as it isnt clear from the picture or the description? It says its a roll-top but I dont really know what that means. Also doesn anyone have any experience of this pack? I am after a pack that isnt a toploader and this seems to fit the bill assuming it isnt a top loader.

I believe the Skareb is a top loader. It might be difficult to tell from pics because it does not have a lid. It has a roll-top closure. These closures are fairly common on lightweight backpacks. Although I don't mind top-loading packs, roll-tops add some difficulty in accessing your gear. It basically makes a 40 litre pack as difficult to access as a 60 or 70L - you have to reach way downto get to the bottom. Other than taking a little more time (and maybe frustration for you) to get to items that have sunk to the bottom, it's like any other top-loader.

There are many backpack travelers who swear off of top-loaders. I actually prefer them. But I use stuff sacks to keep things organized so everything is still pretty easy to find.
