how do I unsubscribe to off-top postings yet keep all others?

Hi Arezzo, you can go to the subscribed threads and click on the 'Unsubscribe from this thread' link. It's at the top of the page right next to 'Post reply'.

You can choose which threads you subscribe to by ticking (or not ticking) the 'subscribe to this thread' box when replying to a topic.

But I'm wondering now.. what off topic thread are you talking about, considering this was your first post??

Thanks for your help Peter. Here is the thread:

It actually made for some interesting chit-chat, but I don't have time for that in my in-box. Anyway, I'm glad to help out as a Travel Helper for the Eastern US.

Cheers
Grant

I've had a few threads like that too, where I subscribed for the reading, rather than the posting. You can just hit the Unsubscribe link at the top of the thread to stop clogging up the inbox (some threads get like that )...

Aaaaah, I think I understand what you are talking about now. I assume you aren't receiving notifications of further posts to that thread though right?

Generally speaking you shouldn't be receiving notifications for threads in the Off Topic forum. This thread looks like it was moved there after being incorrectly posted in the North America forum. In fact, it is impossible to start a new thread about the 'USA' in the Off Topic forum.

So in answer to your original question - as a USA travel helper you are only notified of threads started in the North America forum which have been designated as being about the USA. The thread in question was incorrectly started in the North America forum and moved to Off Topic by a moderator.

Hope it helps. Let me know if my theory doesn't sound right? Or if you are receiving multiple notifications about responses to this thread as well?

Peter,
Yes you are correct. That is exactly what happened, sorry for any confusion.
