Hey...

I guess its pretty harsh of us to say this to our parents tat v r 18 and they no more OWN us ... come on... they r parents... getting worried abt no things are instincts... :)

v will probably understand this when v become parents ... till then, however, some tricks mite do...

- telling them that getting hit by a car is as much possible in Africa as in front of ur house

- telling them that getting pregnant or turning hippie is not that hard even in ur own country ... (rite Mel???? )

- brain washing... keep telling them small things abt diff places... like

"you know there is a tiger temple in Thailand where u can have a tiger in ur lap"

or "You can dress like Thai kings in Phuket & get ur pictures taken ...."

or "You know u cant have a chewing gum in Singapore... "

or "Indian food is so spicy.... " ( try this on dinner table ... )

trust me... this really helps... the earlier u start this.. the easir it wud b ... :)

Cheers
RoLa

When ever I get puzzled looks and "why?"s from those close to me when I tell them I am picking up the backpack again, I now just tell them:

It's true. Cigarettes can give you cancer. Mobile phones can emit radiation. Alcohol can damage your liver. Anthrax can be fatal. Cars do crash, and every now and then, pedestrians are hit by buses.

But there's a big difference between life and living, and there's no point in putting the 'living' on hold just to ensure there's life.

Travel is about taking calculated risks. You find out the information, assess the risk and decide if the risk is worth taking.... and generally speaking with me that's "hell yes!"
