So is Valentines day a very celebrated event in other parts of the world?

In Singapore, it's huge. Crazy commercialism.

Heard frm a Dutch and Danish friend that it's quite a non-event in Europe.

I'm currently working on a petition to have it renamed from Valentines Day to "Singles Discrimination Day".

LOL; you could probably make some good money off that too.

Anyone see Google's valentines day logo is missing the L (or at least it looks to me like it is?!)???

Your right, Sam, it says Googe.
It's not a big thing here in Iceland. We have a men's day and a women's day that is much more important here. The woman's day is on Sunday if I remember correctly.

Quoting Mel.

I sat at my window, making V signs, at passers by.

No, I did not really do that!!!!!
I got flowers, from my boyfriend, and we are going to a restaurant, in a few minutes.

Mel

So how was McDonalds?

Americans will spend an (estimated) 16.9 billion dollars on Valentine's Day. The average person will spend $120. Beerman and I will have spent nothing on it because we really don't celebrate Valentine's Day. We used to do the card and gift thing but it's just not one of those "special" days (unlike Christmas and birthdays). Instead, we toast to Valentine's Day and remember that we became engaged 17 years ago today. That's good enough for us. ;)

As Kris says (and I agree), the romance is always there. We don't need Hallmark to remind us.

Aww..I am sure she knows..;)

Everyday should be felt like V-day I think, not just 14 Feb - this one day is kinda commercialized nowadays seriously...
I have a colleague (who admitted he's a cheapskate) quoted: "SAVE THE ROSES, they look better on plants than on your hands"
