May 1st me and a friend are begining our travel adventure in Phuket.
I have been looking at various flights. I have been told that it might be a good idea to fly from england to Hong Kong, stay there for few days and then get a flight from there to Phuket.
has anyone else done this or something similair?? Is it cost effective??
Thanks in advance
This probably is true as Oasis Hong Kong have budget flights to Hong Kong return from about £270 incl. tax.
And budget airline one-two-go fly Phuket to Hong Kong - it's seriously difficult to work out how to book this flight online though.
Thankyou very much for that.
Also, is it best to fly to Phuket or Krabi?? - I am going Island hopping.
Thanks in advance
From Krabi, you can get to most Andaman islands, also from Phuket you can get a boat to most islands (or go back via Krabi). I expect there is a better frequency of boats from Krabi though (although I've never been to Phuket, so don't quote me!!). See which one is cheaper and more convenient time wise as I don't think it'll make much difference otherwise...
I think Krabi would be more convenient for cheaper, more backpacker-y places, like Railay and Koh Lanta.
Phuket would be more convenient for, well, Phuket, and probably for Koh Phi Phi.
Krabi is cheaper and quieter.... plus all the islands for which Phuket is famous for(Phi Phi etc.), are accesible from Krabi... so Krabi is reccomended... !!!
and Railay is beee---eee--ootiful..... but not at all back-packery... one way boat ride is 100 bhat from Krabi town (60 from Ao-Nang beach, from where u can get to Krabi town on mini van for 40 bhat)
day tour to Phi Phi islands from Krabi on speed boat is for 1200 bhat... (and from Phuket the same is 1500 ... so .... )
cheers and have a safe trip ...
