hi everyone.

I have just seen an incredibly small and ultralite sleeping bag selling on ebay by caribee. It has a temp rating of 10 degrees C. Is this far too light for sleeping and travelling through India? I know that it will be peaking at over 40 degrees in India when I am there, but would I freeze to death with this bag at night? Any comments would be great. Thanks.

Cam, are you planning to go trekking and camping? If yes, you can take your sleeping bag... otherwise, I don't really see the necessity of carrying a sleeping bag. As Wouter says, a bedsheet is enough for the places you stay at, be it hostels, guesthouses or hotels.

Indeed! a sleeping bag liner or mummy bag, either cotton or silk, cos many places dont have sheets. And its not the sort of place to get cold at night except in the mountains maybe. I'm in India now and sending my sleeping bag home, theres just no need.

No sleeping bag necessary! Even if you trek or camp you can rent one for cheap(just check it 1st!)

In places like Darjeeling and Simla it can get cold at night. But budgethotels have thick blankets. If you have your own sheet its enough. just put the blanket of the hotel over the sheet and it is warm enough. Cheers, your mommy;).

If you are trekking in the mountains, then only you will need a sleeping bag. But you can always get it locally on rent.
