London, Singapore, New York.

In that order. I just find these monster cities really boring. Havent been yet, but I really dont fancy the idea of Hong Kong Either.

Why didnt you like Santiago? I thought it was fantastic! Did you climb San Cristobel for sunset? I just love the way you can be plodding along a busy high street and just look up.. Only to see the second highest mountain range in the world towering above you. Amazing, especially the way they go pink in the evening.

I was looking to go to Sham el Sheik in the future - is it really that bad? The diving is supposed to be really good.

And for those slagging of Auckland - How can a city with 48 volcanoes possibly be bad?

I would have to say , it was the niagara falls...

I am not sure what i was expecting, butall i cud think was 'so what'... partly because i think it was very touristy, and way too many people when all i wanted was some quiet!!!

Someone mentioned South Africa. I visited South Africa and it's probably one of the best countires I've been. Although, there are places that I don't even dare to get out of my car like the city of Pretoria, scary place.

That's interesting: I was expecting tourism and major las vegas style. But it was ok and crossing to the american side was a good decision. But I have to agree, it is a small las vegas

Auckland is a boring shithole located at the arse end of the world.

According to the Aucklanders, Invercargill is officially the arse end of the world.

Auckland (in my opinion) is not a "a boring shithole located at the arse end of the world."

If you actually took the time to explore Auckland you would find that there are many beautiful areas and suburbs and loads of things to do - the city centre is not what Auckland is about. I lived there for 15 months (and still didn't do everything i wanted to) and would certainly not describe it as a disappointing travel destination. if you want drinking and clubbing then no, Auckland is not the place to go, but if you want that then why would you travel anyway?

No need to be grumpy Bex, I'm not being that harsh on it, am I? :)

I wouldnt have chosen James words But he's an Ozzie so hes allowed to abuse the Kiwis. They love it. :)

My opion is that for me Auckland is a disappointing travel destination. I dont particularly enjoy living here for a year. There are a lot of interesting places to see and I havent been sitting around not doing anything. I have taken the time to explore it and have seen just about eveyrthing that I can now.

Drinking and clubbing isnt why I'm here and I have been out about twice to Auckland's viaduct area which didnt do it for me at all. I'm probably too old

In comparison to other cities that I have lived in, Auckland doesnt really do it for me. It may well have it for lots of other people :)

i wasn't being grumpy, just expressing my opinion on somewhere that I like and somewhere I think that the guidebooks overlook sometimes. My boyfriend is a kiwi from Auckland so that might have biased my opinions somewhat ;)

the viaduct area isn't my scene at all either (in my old age).

It's just that Auckland is a lovely city so I like to stick up for it :)

Fair enough. Each to their own, right? :)
