So i keep hearing that Ryanair is SOOOOO cheap and like under 30 pounds to fly to many places. How much of this is actually true? I would like to fly from London to Rome. How much you think this would be average?? Guess what im really asking is, is ryanair really that crazy unbelievable cheap???

From what I have heard it is entirely true. I personally have never flown it but I very good friend of mine has. I stayed with him in Barcelona and he flew from there to Amsterdam round trip for about 50 euros. That is cheap. The key apparantly is to book early. It is legitimate and a great option to train travel in Europe.

Hi Stayhungry

Its' very true. Ryanair has opened up Europe to poor young backpackers like ourselves.

The way to get a cheap fare is to be slightly flexible with your dates, but more importantly to watch their website like a hawk. They continually have sales where they give out free seats, seats for 99p, five pounds and so on. Once airport taxes are added on, it can come to about 30 euros or so. Thats about as cheap as you'll get it.

Their major hub is in Stansted and from here you can fly out to all over Europe. Remember, it's a no frills airline, and we mean NO frills
If you bing your airhostess more than once you're likely to get screamed at violently.
But they are fast effecient and cheap.

Hope that helps,
Evelyn

Yes, Stayhungry, they are cheap, when u take advantage of their special offers. Often they charge nothing for flights. The passenger only pays the taxes, which often add up to 30 pounds.
Although, London to Rome is quite a long distance, so it may cost more than 30 pounds.

Here is their link, so u can browse for special offers.

That is no exaggeration.
One time, I showed up 20 mins, before the flight, instead of 30 mins, as the rules state, and they would not let me on. I complained, and was told that if I dont behave myself, I will not be allowed on any flights today. They charged me another 25 pounds, to get on the next flight.

But than you will have to pay for every piece of luggage...for a drink...for something else like getting a smile of the stewardess.

I booked flights to Ireland with Aer Lingus...even they send me an email yesterday that I have to pay 8 euro for every piece of luggage! Or 'just' 4 euro if you check in online the day before.
Wow, service man!

The only disadvantages of RyanAir is that they in a lot of cases fly on distant airports. (for Stockholm, Paris, Vienna, Düsseldorf and I'll bet a lot more cities, you are traveling up to 2 hours to reach that city, for these places you'll find yourself in Skavsta, Beauvais, Bratislava and Weeze !!!). So check where your flight is actualy going, and how much you have to pay for the transport to the city, and how much time you lose.

They will try to sell sell you about anything on a flight. (no free drinks (or meals), on these flights, but hugely overpriced drinks.) They also tend to have less staff on the ground, so expect longer cues (esp. in Stansted), and not a lot of information, in case of delays.

You want cheap, you'll get cheap ... but if you work it out, you can get to places really cheap.

Do u have to pay anything, for hand luggage?
I am only taking hand luggage, in future, if they are going to charge that much. I can buy the liquid items, in the country I am travelling to.

About luggage...my luggage weigthed more than 15 kg and I had to pay 6 euros/kg from the fifteenth kg.
By example 20 Kg would be (20-15)x6= 30€

I've taken Ryanair 7 or 8 times, and they're quite good. They don't charge for hand lugagge, nope.
flights are cheap, I flew to Frankfurth Hahn for 27 euros inc. taxes, round trip, about 53 to Liverpool three times and 40 for a round trip to Paris
