Hi!

I'm a Canadian planning to travel in China (Beijing-Guelin-Shanghai...also open to other spots!) in the first two weeks of May. If anyone is interested in meeting up along the way, let me know!

HEY, TRAVELLERS!

We're Fabio (Italia) and Charlotte (Australia). We're a little MAD, so we decided to ship our 4WD "La Bestia" to Singapore from Australia, so we can drive it to Fabio's home in Italy. Yeah, we know ... crazy! We'll be driving through Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, China, Nepal, India, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey and Greece, then ferrying over to Italy. The trip should last us about 9 months.

We started our adventure in Melbourne, Australia, where we bought our car, which we have set up as our new home, with camping gear and some built in beds. We left Victoria on the 29th February and drove it 5500km up the centre of Australia, arriving in Darwin on the 4th March. Saw some amazing sites along the way, including Adelaide, Coober Pedy, Uluru, Kings Canyon, the Devils Marbels, a couple of nights in Alice Springs, Daly Waters, and finally Darwin for 4 nights to arrange the export of our "La Bestia" to Singapore.

We've been in Singapore for almost 2 weeks now, finding it expensive and hot, and not much of a cultural change from Western civilisation. The city is really clean though, and its very easy to find your way around. Highlights have been the Chinese New Year celebrations, and some of the local food bargains. We recommend the food court on the esplanade opposite Marina Square. But mostly the city is very similar to any busy shopping mall in Western countries. We found some really cheap accommodation at the Prince of Wales backpackers in Little India, that includes a daily hot breakfast. It's clean, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We've already made a heap of new friends here, including some of the locals.

Our car arrives next week, when we restart our roadtrip journeying up the Siamese Peninsula through Malaysia, Thailand
We'll stop in Thailand for a couple of months, or until we're ready to move on. Can't wait to relax on the beach, and enjoy the amazing food.

After Thailand its on to Laos, then we cross the border into Southern China, sometime in May, passing through Kunming to journey along the silk route to Nepal. Local government rules will determine whether we can pass through Tibet.

One months travel in Nepal, will bring us to India, where we will traverse the northern region over 3 months, making passage to Pakistan.

From Pakistan we cross over into Iran, making a diagonal trip from the south eastern border to the north western border, entering Turkey by around September 2007. Sea ferry will bring us from Turkey to Greece, where we will see the last leg of our road trip to Italy, Fabio's country of birth.

Fabio and I would greatly appreciate any advice or support people can offer us for this journey. We're also looking for like travellers who would be interested in joining us for part of our journey. We look forward to hearing from you.
