I need a bit of help with insurance namely which company you think would be the best (and who to stay away from) for my situation.
I'm flying out to New Zealand from the UK shortly on a 1 year WHV. While there I'm planning to get my paragliding pilot licence as well as do a bit of snowboarding etc. Also looking to insure my camera, lenses and mp3 player.
I've been searching the internet for ages and I'm just about ready to put my foot through the monitor. So if people want to fire names of cheap reliable insurers at this number dyslexic it would be greatly appreciated.
I can't say anything good, bad or indifferent about these guys as nothing bad happened to me on my last trip, but I went with World Nomads. Seemed to have good coverage and they were cheap. I have no idea about covering piloting paragliders, but the rest of those things should be covered (up to a certain amount per item I believe.)
insure and go are good and pretty cheap. you might have to pay extra though if you're going paragliding and snow boarding. there is an option to pay an extra £50 so if you have to make a claim you don't pay the excess. i think it's the backpackers gold package or something. i think it's spelled insureandgo if you're looking on the internet - that's if you haven't broken your computer yet...
Columbus have a pretty good backpakers policy also.
Computer is still in one piece...just.
Insureandgo is asking too much after adding winter sports to the policy, not even going to bother asking them to give me a quote after adding cover for paragliding.
Liking World Nomads though, like the fact they cover you for snowboarding without any additional add ons and you can tell them what exactly you've got in way of electronic gizmos. They say they don't cover paragliding but I've e-mailed them anyway to see if they can.
