There are some travel helpers on heer and I am sure if you were to email one or two of them they would be able to direct you... It is useful and very convenient if you have your own driver who will take you places... I think yo ucan pay them for like a week or something... Enjoy...:)

October is fairly cool in Pakistan. If you are planning a taxi ride then southern Pakistan is best. But if you are a nature lover you can travel up north, but please note that after october it is very cold in the northern parts of Pakistan.
A taxi or rented car can be hired on a daily basis. For the northern parts a 4x4 will be your ride as it is a prerequisite there. If you are a back packer I can guess that I will cost you something aroung 1500-2500 USD for a two weeks trip. This will include your accomodation, food ,car and a guide.
Two things, 1- Southern Pakistan is rich in culture and history
2- Northern Pakistan is the mountaineous areas full of wildlife, natural habitats, trekking areas, camping areas and a place where 5 peaks of 8000meter and above surround you in a panoramic view!

Hi sara !
here are some tips.
How to get there?.. Many airlines fly from Paris to Islamabad, Lahore or Karachi. I would recommend Emirates. They have flights from Paris/ Nice to Islamabad/ lahore/ peshawar via Dubai. Round trip ticket costs around $1000 US. you may get it cheaper if booked well in advance.
Visa.If you are living in France, you can get your visa at

Embassy of Pakistan in Paris.
18, Rue Lord Byron, 75008
Paris

Taxi/ Driver. There are plenty. A four wheeler+ driver will cost around 60-80 dollars per day. Cars will cost almost half. You have to bear the cost of fuel. If you are planning to head north, I will recommend a four wheel drive, as here, diesel is cheaper then petrol.
For food and decent lodging, 50 dollars/ day will be sufficient.

If you require further info, drop me a mail.

well, the best time to visit north is May - Aug, this is the best time to trek in Himalayas and Karakorams... and i guess the only time ... :)

there are some non profit organizations in Pakistan that can arrange a trip for you, one of them is adventure foundation pakistan, adventurefoundation.org.pk,

i did a week long trek with these guyz in Himalayas to the base camp of Nanga Parbat, and it costed me around 200$, (food+accomodation+guide+transportation) from islamabad,

then there is adventure club pakistan ... never tried them but heard good reviews....

Cheers and have a safe trip ...
