I'm going to be in Denver this summer for a few days and want to do white water rafting. The company (AVA) that I want to do it with pick you up from Keystone early in the morning and drop you back later on in the day.
How do you travel between Denver and Keystone? I won't have a car and so will have to take a bus/train. Is there a service available? I will probably have to end up staying in Keystone as well. Does anybody know of any cheap accommodation available in Keystone?
Apologies for so many questions but any answers will be so helpful.
You can get a bus from Denver heading west on I-70. Get off at Dillion-Silverthorne. This is your best bet for decent priced lodging. There is be nothing inexpensive at Keystone. See if your rafting company will pick you up at your Dillion hotel. Good luck.
You might want to look into Clear Creek Rafting (http://www.clearcreekrafting.com), as it's a lot closer to Denver. Not exactly sure how to get there without a car though. Bus probably.
If you do end up going to Keystone, another alternative for transportation is Colorado Mountain Express (www.ridecme.com), which is a shuttle service. It won't be your cheapest option, but you'll be in a van, rather than a bus. Then again, I think you might have to get picked up from DIA (Denver Airport) for that to work, but it's worth looking into anyway. If you're staying in a decent hotel, they might be able to arrange something too.
Would you be able to rent a car? That could actually be your best option, but there are wierd rules about not being under 25 and stuff like that.
Good luck. If you get in a jam, drop me a line. Denver is about 100 miles away from me, but you never know, I could be able to help you out.
