I am considering doing a working holiday in Australia this year and i am a bit worried about living arrangements, is it possible to have your own room in a Hotel or would you be able to recommend any other accommodation options.

Staying in a youth hostel, at least to begin with, is a good way to go. A lot of hostels in Sydney will have job & accommodation boards, so if you want to flat-share then you may find potential housemates, or an advert for a place, at a hostel. Another place to find such adverts is Travellers Contact Point on George Street.

The YHA in Glebe tends to attract a fair number of people on working holidays, and therefore has job & accommodation boards, and potential housemates. Glebe is also a great suburb to be in, and not far from the city centre.

You should stay in a central hostel to begin with, but a sharing a flat will work out much cheaper in the long run. If you want to live near the beaches, Coogee, Bondi, Manly and Bronti are all nice, but more expensive. The young/student parts of town are Newtown, Glebe, Camperdown, Surrey Hills and Erskinville. Rooms in these areas will cost A$100 - A$150.
