Kitten - shopgirl is correct in what she says of Chiswick. I don't know it in the details that she does, but it's held in high regard.

Morning Nannie/Kitten/Kody and James

I can imagine just how nerve racking the prospect of moving to another country is for all of you! But good for u! James is correct in the areas that he has told you about - I work in hammersmith and it quite buzzing. Lots of families/schools etc. Not as nice as Chiswick but still very good value for money. £250 per month for all that Nannie! So cheap! You would never get anything over here in London for that. You could pretty much say that in the West/southwest London areas, to rent a 2 bed property in a decent area would be around the £900/#£1000 a month mark and that's just a flat, not a house. Houses are anything from £500 per week upwards, but it does depend on which area you choose. East london is still very good, and the Dockland/Clerkenwell/Farringdon areas are really nice. All fairly near the river and a lot of new developments being built, so state of the art too. Those areas are mostly taken up with singles/couple with no families but that's obviously not carved in stone! If all of you want, when it comes nearer the time of your moving, let me know and I will go to some estate/letting agents for you all and send you what is on their books, or I will give you the names of good ones and their e-mail addressess and you can contact them yourselves. If you find somewhere, let me know and I can always go check it out for you - you know, what the area is like, what the streets are like surrounding it, whether it's a bit rough or not etc. Don't mind doing that at all as I have a car so it's no prob.

Any other things you want to know and I can help with - just shout :)

Hi all,

Shopgirl, I used to live in Barons Court, and Hammersmith was my local shopping centre and some of the pubs there were my watering holes.

I was back in London for a friend's wedding last year, and re-visited some old haunts around the Barons Court / Hammersmith area.

I wish I was moving back to London!

Kitten - take up shopgirl's kind offer of assistance! I only wish I knew someone like her when I moved to London. It would have saved a lot of time and a lot of hassle.

Hi everyone!!!

It is all set. My husband and I will move in London on October 23. Fast hey??? :) On the 25, I am starting to look for an appartment. Could somebody tell me a little more about Wimbeldon, Morden, Collier's Wood....or something in this area?

Thanks a lot.
