thanks for all the feedback on this.
i'd prefer to be able to print the whole blog very simply from day one of my travels. literally just the date, title, sub heading, content and pics nothing else (except the design maybe) as all the rest on the page would be irrelevant to the printed version.
the idea of having the blog as a coffee table book for my family and friends to flick through is magical. i do hope this becomes a possibility in the future.
thanks for starting the thread on this - and everyone who replied ... i definitely would love to make the coffee table book as well! i hope there is a way to notify everyone if/when it becomes an option.
This is very close; I'm just waiting on some feedback from certain coders to finalize ...

If that's me - I'll look at it on Saturday, and the same for the other emails sitting in my inbox. Sorry, running a bit haggard juggling things to do.
Nice one guys, knowing how slick your usual upgrades to this site are I am very excited about this new 'Print your Blog' function.
I can only imagine how nice you'll make it. Hopefully in the near future these blogs can be enjoyed/discovered in hard copy as well as online!
I'll watch this space!
Oh boy, with that kind of pressure I'd better have a really close look at it again before launching
Have there been any developments since we were last in touch re. the function of printing off the blog?
Let me know,
As some of those that posted in this thread already know, we have had a printing solution in place but it wasn't really visible until the changes made last weekend went live. So, as of now, under your 'Manage' tab in the blog management area, you will find a 'Print' sub tab. Click on that and the form should be fairly self explanatory.
The most likely to be asked question is what the difference is between generating the pdf or the html version. Here's what I added to the FAQ's:
When you generate a PDF, a file will be created in PDF format and downloaded to your computer. You can view and print this file using a PDF reader which are freely available online.
When you generate in HTML format, the results will appear within your browser and you can print directly from your browser.
There are some advantages and disadvantages to both options. The main disadvantage of generating a PDF is that your maps and videos will not show within the entries. The HTML version will show maps and videos as normal and when printing from HTML these will be included in your printout. The main disadvantage of using the HTML version is that the layout can be somewhat different from browser to browser and this might cause a strange looking printout.
Unfortunately there is no way for us to automatically generate a pdf (as of today) that includes flash, which is what the maps and videos are, so that is the main drawback of generating a pdf version. The pdf version looks nicer in my opinion though, but that could just be my personal preference
Oh, and if you are going to print a LOT of blog entries with photos etc, be prepared to wait quite a while. It's a pretty intensive process and you end up generating pretty large files! Hope you enjoy
