Hi, I'm in Thailand at the moment, hung around in Bangkok for a week or so and making my way up to Chang Maim from there going to move on to Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia before coming back for south thailand.
Anyway I'll be in Chang Mai from tomorrow if anyone is in the area and wants to meet up. Or if anyone can offer any suggestions as to the best route / way to get from there to Laos, or just any tips they have on Chang Mai let me know
Hows it going? In Bangkok now and planning to move up to Chang Mai later this week... any suggestions? i may catch u up in Laos x
Not sure if you have left or not. I did the slow boat from Chang Rai down into Laos, the trip is not for everyone but I had a blast and was an awesome experience!
Just be prepared to sit on a wooden bench for 2 days and have an overnight stay at a very basic village!
I done the journey from bangkok to luang namtha last year by road. I gather that the roads got better since then, but it was a heavy journey from huay xai. It was 12 hours in a pickup truck, but honest to god its amazin when you get up into them hills, the views probably some of the most amazin things ive ever seen.
Make sure you take supplies though, theres only 1 place to stop for food and its quite early in the journey, it isn't a shop, more like a little village and you go into a little hut with cooked food to buy.
Last thing, when you get to Louang namtha go to pandas and order the noodle soup, its serious! Anyways, hope that helps.
