Hey!

My girlfriend is coming out to meet me in Bangkok in a couple of weeks, and i've heard it's much nicer to stay around the Sukhumvit Road area but i've only had experience of staying around the KS Road.

Can anyone recommend a nice GH or hotel that isn't gonna bust the bank?! Maybe around the 800-950baht mark. I was recommended one opposite a bar called Cheap Charlies but i have no idea what it's called and if it's is really any good!

Cheers

Here is a hotel that is not too far from the Skytrain which you can use to get to most of the popular areas of Bangkok.

HONEY HOTEL, Sukhumvit Soi 19, various size rooms @ different prices, within your price range. All rooms have A/C, private toilet/shower, security box available and there also is a pool available. Street vendors on Sukhumvit, malls, restaurants, etc. Good location.

Email them at !!!!!!!!!!! (not allowed) or use Google for more info. This Honey Hotel is in an area with fewer bars around - but after a short walk on Sukhumvit Road you will find some.

Thanks for the advice! Always appreciated!

However, checking the old bank balance, i'm now thinking of maybe splashing out a little for the first night!

Can anyone recommend a really nice hotel (not stupidly expensive though!), with a good location, to impress the missus?!

Nice one people!

I got treated to a little bit of luxury for a few nights at the Shangri la. It was amazing and not overly expensive, the most comfortable and biggest bed I have ever slept in!! Check out their website.. Will definitely impress the missus.. Have a wicked trip :)

Well we stayed at the Conrad - in Bangkok - near the skytrain & absolutely GORGOUS! For a night you would be looking around £150 - but OMG worth it! You are greeted with flowers & cocktails, rain showers in room, roll top bath!! Oh it was amazing! Take a look HERE

Just checked - you can get internet rate for £95 no breakfast or £120 with breakfast! I would say this is one of the BEST hotels l have had the pleasure of staying in!

You say you want to splash out but there are plenty of hotels near to the Khao san road I have stayed in the Vieng Tai and that was very nice, my partner and I stayed here when he flew in from Oz and I drove up from Pattaya, in usual backpacker style after one night of luxury we transferred to the starlight hotel opposite for the rest of the stay this was really cheap and offered the same facilities just slightly dumbed down, but clean and very user friendly.

In my opinion take your girlfriend up to Chiang Mai, lovely hotels there for not much money and a much less busy scene than Bangkok, the flights are very cheap.

2 words... Asha Guesthouse

Absolutely brilliant, but a bit out of the centre.
