I'm starting to plan a week-long trip to Greece and am looking for suggestions. I'm thinking of flying into Athens and spending a day or two there, and then spending the rest of the week at a few islands. Which are the most beautiful and interesting islands? Would it be best to just experience one since theres such a short amount of time? Any other suggestions concerning Greece?
You are going to lose so much time in transit, I would stick to Athens and the surrounding areas and one island. Some surrounding areas are really close to Athens and have some great ancient monuments to see. If you need a place to stay in Athens...try Athens backpackers....great hostel right next to the Acropolis. Best of luck to ya...Greece is amazing!!!
I would suggest the same. Just focus on Athens and one more island. From the piraeus port it would be easier to go to the cyclades with a highspeed boat. There i would suggest either Santorini, Paros or Naxos. These are my top picks. You will easily find accomodation and you will sure enjoy yourself.
While in Athens do not miss the National Archaelogical Musuem, and also strolling around the Plaka area. The best nightlife is in the southern suberns linked by tram to Glyfada with some great clubs; also you can swim there in the vouliagmeni area
Ciao for now
You can't go to Greece without visiting at least one island. Mykonos is absolutely amazing...might i suggest going on a 4 day cruize through the islands? While in Athens, be sure to check out club NV, it's an amazing outdoor beach bar, expensive, who says u have to drink though If u decide not to go to the islands its really worth your while to check out Delphi. Make sure u bring water and wear good walking shoes because the rocks up the hill are slippery.
