Im planning on visiting these countries in the above order, the last place in thailand being Pattaya before going into Cambodia, has anyone done this route or have any suggestions as to the best way of doing it? I may only have 4-5 weeks so maybe that isnt enough time. Does anyone have any ideas on what should definately be seen and what shouldnt?
I did this trip but had almost 4 months to do it in and I really don't think you'll be able to fit much in if you visit all these countries - you'll be rushing around the whole time so wont be able to relax or take much in. You could probably fit in Thailand and one other country in this time - if you limit the amount of places you want to see in each country. Choose one country you really want to see and then plan your trip again - or you could always extend your trip!
Hi Thanks for that, I should have said that I would have spent the previous 4 weeks in Thailand and would have 4-5 to do Cambodia etc. I was in Thailand last year so am not planning on seeing everything again, just the bits I missed and really liked. Where do you recommend going out of Cambodia, Vietnam or Laos? Im travelling by myself so dont want to be too far off the beaten track, but based on what Ive read so far Im undecided. Any suggestions??
I think your best use of time and to avoid backtracking is to go from BKK to Siem Reap. Fly this part if you have to money, if not, then you can go BKK-SR in one long day overland, less than $30. Get the 3 day pass at Angkor, then bus/boat down to Phnom Penh. 3 days is enough to see PP and get your VN visa. Most GHs will get it for your in 1 day for about $30. Bus/boat to VN. Hit HCMC & the delta, then get the open tour bus north, about $25 all the way to HaNoi. VN will take 2-3 weeks to see most of it and not rush all the time. After HaNoi, bus to Laos, visa at the border, $30. 1 week and out of Laos at the Friendship Bridge, bus/train to BKK.
You will be moving almost daily, but you are young and can stand up to the stress of constantly on the go. PM me if you have questions.
