1.5 weeks for Guilin & Yangzhou, China,... too MUCH time?

Travel Forums Asia 1.5 weeks for Guilin & Yangzhou, China,... too MUCH time?

Hello everyone!
Once again I'm asking for opinions on my China itinerary, (the actual trip is March 20th!)...

Having just shy of 2 weeks to spend in China, if I was to fly from Beijing down to Guilin, spending time mainly in Guilin and Yangzhou, would I have TOO MUCH time on my hands? (Would I not be using my time efficiently?) -OR- Is there enough to see and do among the surrounding area of Guilin & Yangzhou that I would stay "busy"?...

Also, there is the option of just spending a few days in the Guilin area and then heading back north via trains... stopping at some other interesting destinations you all might recommend...??! (although the train routes don't appear to have a straight shot northwards to the Beijing area....so I would have to be aware of the time...)

...What about Song Shan? Is that do-able on my way back north heading towards Beijing?

Thanks again SO much for all of your helpful advice!!
It is very appreciated!
David

Too much time. 4-5 days for Yangshuo (skip Guilin, dude!) is enough.
What kind of destinations would you be interested in seeing, other than Yangshuo?

I would say it depends on what your goals are for your trip. If you want to sightsee, then it would be too much time. But if you want to spend time and get to know the area, culture, and people, then 1.5 weeks is not enough time at all.

Yes, you are right, depends on what do you want to do in these places. sightseeing or learning the local culture. Well,if just for sightseeing, I I think one week is enough for Guilin city and Yangshuo. I suggest you visit Longsheng in your rest time. The terrace and springwater there are amazing.
