Hi!

i am going to oz on a 12 month working holiday visa and want some advice. Wheres the best places to go and when?

i know people are probably sick of this question but it would be nice to find other peoples views!

i am starting in Gipplsand in Victoria for 3 weeks with family then down to sydney on ozintro from 7th May- anyone in sydney at the same time?

then Oz is my oyster! i have another 11 months to search onwards and upwards (or down) money is a bit of an issue but i want to get to see as much as i can working along the way!

the only things i want to do is spend christmas a totally different way to what i would in the uk and new year on Sydney Harbour (i know typical tourist )

so any places or advice given will be appreciated thanks!!!!

Brisbane is a good place for backpackers to find work in, and the Gold Coast is a great place to check out - it now has 5 theme parks and the beach is awesome!

For work definitely look up on the Gold Coast, because everytime I have gone to Surfers Paradise they always have help wanted signs up in almost every shop window. I was speaking to a family member today who lives up there and they told me it is still the same with work since I last went up there a few years back.

For travelling in Australia, be sure to make it to Western Australia. Most people on Working Holiday visas seem to forget about Western Australia and spend most their time in trashy, expensive and very over rated places like Sydney. Western Australia is the real Australia where you have every type of site and activity you could possibly want (except maybe an Iceberg or Ice climbing). If you love nature you can get a cheap flight from Melbourne-Hobart and take in some of Tasmania which is very nice, but it isn't very budget minded tourist friendly if you have to rely on buses to see the sites and certainly is not a backpacker friendly place with the very expensive tour costs.

Have a great time in OZ.
