Hey, I am going to spend 4 days in Amsterdam in this Easter holiday, is it so much? I am from London and I am thinking of making it 4 days full or 3 Amsterdam and 1 Brussel or 2-2 equal? Cheers.

4 days might be a bit too much for just Amsterdam, although there is a lot to see and do of course. But it's not really big.
Maybe do a bycicle orientation tour first and afterwards walk around the most central parts.
Why not visit another dutch city, like Utrecht or The Hague? Or smaller ones like Leiden or Haarlem. All within 45 minutes of reach! Instead of 3 hours to brussels.

Last year, I spent 5 days in Amsterdam, and in my opinion, it was not too much. I really enjoyed walking the whole city and getting lost in the beautiful streets! But I heard Brussels was also a nice city. I prefer spending more time in one city than rushing from one to another...Still, Brussels and Amsterdam are really close to eachother. I guess it is really up to you, what do you want to see. 4 days, you get to know the city better, 2 days, you are just passing by and you see the general atmosphere.
A day is not enough, so if you really want to see both cities, I would go for you 2-2 option.
By the way, I liked Amsterdam so much, I am going back this summer!

It depends a little bit on how your travel is planned, are you talking about 4 whole days, or would you lose time on the first and the fourth day for traveling? And of course of your interests. Normaly I would say 2 or 3 days is enough, If you are not losing too much time for travel you can fit in 1 day in Brussels.

Like Utrecht mentioned before, you can also stay in the Netherlands, almost every town is reachable in 2-3 hours (even Maastricht).

Depends what you like....when I've been to Amsterdam (I've only been twice though...) I've been for 2 or 3 days and have found it's not enough. I love the City. There are some really good museums, art galleries (eg Rembrandt), things like Ann Frank's House, flower markets, boat trips and many parts of the city to explore. Also, I tend to party hard in Amsterdam (as do many, I expect!!) and find that hangover time is important to factor in. It's good to chill in Amsterdam rather than hurry hurry.

Amsterdam is really small even if it is a bit like London, as in that the tourist sites are spread out, not in just one "tourist bit." Personally I spent 4 days the first time we went and we had "done it" by the end of the second day, using the rest of the time to chill out, not too hard really! I would do 3 days in Amsterdam and 1 day in Brussels, the latter is only really worth visiting to raid its chocolate and beer stores, unless you just happen to be really fascinated by the EU...there are therapy sessions available if that is the case!!

Agree with everything claireh said.

I can't believe people are saying 4 days is too much for one of the major tourist cities of the world. If you can't keep yourself entertained for a week or MORE in a city like that then there is something seriously wrong with you or with the way you travel!

Definitely don't go to Brussels. It would be impossible to do 2 cities in 4 days especially when you include travel time.

As a local, I might add there is more to Amsterdam that's very well worth seeing beyond the city center, esp. for architecture buffs. So 4 days is definitely not enough.

Iwould say 4 days in Adam & zero days in Brussels... Brussels is booooooring... while Adam is awesome... 4 days aint nearly enough but its a start.. enjoy...:)

Hello Lifylla

I would stay in Amsterdam, for 4 days, unless u are one of those restless people who has to have something to do, and someplace to go all the time. If it was me, I would sit back, and soak up the Amsterdam atmosphere, for 4 days.
