Hi everyone, I'm planning a trip to see Machu Picchu in April and want to spent as less money as possible on the train. Has anyone experience if it is possible to get the evening local train ticket from Ollanntaytambo on the day of travel in Apriel period and if this evening local train is safe to travel on. And maybe some tip form good, safe and cheap accommodation inAguas Callientes.
Thanks in adnvace

I heard it is not any longer possible to take local trains on that track, whatever the reason may be for this stupid decision of peruvian government (except money). The backpacker train (god, I hate that word) is the cheapest one!

Where did you get that, Michael? Last time I heard, ErwinNL's solution (look for his thread ' getting to MP cheap' in this forum) was still possible...

I googled a little bit and found this. Also good information for the initial question in this thread.
