agss241 has indicated that this thread is about Malaysia

We (wife, granddaughter, me) will be going from Bangkok to Sungai
Kolok by train, get off and cross the international border, go on
to Khota Baru (sp?), staying at the Perdana Hotel, catch the
"Jungle Line" train to Gemas the next morning.

1. What is involved in getting off the train and crossing the
Thai/Malaysia Border? Long walk, difficulty thru customs, etc.
2. How far from the border crossing to K. Baru and the Perdana
Hotel?
3. How far from K. Baru & the hotel to the railway station to
catch the train to Gemas?
4. Can we purchase food & bottled water to carry on the train
(understand there are no services aboard the train)?

Info from this forum has thus far been VERY valuable and
important in planning our trip. I want to say "THANK YOU" in advance for any info you can post here.

1) Last train stop is in Sungei Kolok. From there U can take motorbike take (cost U 20 baht per person) to Thai Immigration. After U have stamp passport out Thailand, U walk cross bridge to Malaysia. I think it's only 600 metre to Malaysia Immigration. After stamp in ur passport in Malaysia. After U and ur family walk out from Malaysia Immigration and Malaysia Royal Customs, walk straight through the coridor for 600 metre. U can take public bus name SKMK number 29. Cost U less than RM4 per person from Rantau Panjang to Kota Bharu. The journey is less 60 km or 1 hour. U can take taxi but it cost U from RM25 and above depend U nego with the taxi driver. If U take bus, U can request the bus driver to stop oppersite Esso Petrol Station. Tell the bus driver that U R going to Perdana Hotel. When the bus stop U cross the road. The hotel located behind the petrol station. From the location U go down the bus to the hotel is only less 1 km. Heat is not a problem because after U walk pass Esso Petrol Station is already shade because or the big tree. If U go down at Padang Bas (bus stop) in Kota Bharu, it's quite far walking. I think is about 6 km.

2) Kota Bharu Railway in situated at Wakaf Bharu. It's less20 km from the Hotel. If U take early train U should check out a bit early due to traffic jam and road constuction. I think the hotel have their van or car. U can request them to sent U to Wakaf Bharu Railway Station. I don't know wheather U have to pay or not for that servives.

3) There is a canteen on the train but the food maybe is not so delicious and quite expensive because there is only 1 canteen. My suggestion is U can buy foods and drink at KBMALL. It's located less than 2 km from ur hotel. Very near. It's a hypermarket and U can buy anything cheaper than outside shops.

I hope my information can help U travel to malaysia. With U and ur family SELAMAT DATANG KE MALAYSIA (welcome to malaysia) and enjoy visiting my country.
