I'm really interested in travelling on the recently opened Sky Train from China to Tibet. I've been reading about it, and apparently it has been undergoing some teething problems, such as carriages derailing and so on.
I'm wondering if anyone has done this and can give a description or some advice on it.
Depends how you feel about the Tibet situation. A tough call to take that train.........I saw it when I was in Tibet and love train travel, but I myself wouldn't set foot on it.
I heard very positive things about it, the trains are provided with oxygen masks in case of a lack of oxygen (travel is above 5000 meters on some points). And of course it's wise to bring some warm blankets and clothings yourself, although I can't imagine there is no heater or whatever on that train.
I believe it starts from Golmud officially, but you can travel from other cities directly as well, like Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu.
