i stayed at Green Hut Lodge... it was 25 MYR for first night and 23 for subsequent ones... shared baths.. but they were clean... and staff was friendly... later i found out that it was a lil expensive as other places were available for as low as 10MYR.. but i wud reccomend it...

Cheers and have a safe trip ... :)

thank you very much, Rola!
It seems that Green Hut is most travellers' choice.

Both Red Dragon and Backpackers Travellers Inn are good hostels in China Town. BTI has a rooftop bar which is quite social and Red Dragon has a good communal DVD room.

RedPalm KL is pretty good too. Located about 150m away from GreenHut (which is also good) on the same street, it is highly recommended by a few travellers in TP whom I've met recently.

It depends on when you are coming, whether it's peak or off-peak season. It's always better to book in advance for at least 1 night stay, so that you have a place to stay for sure. But if it's a peak season, it's better to book all the days you plan to be here. You don't want to run around searching for a place to stay and ended up at a horrible place or have to pay a fortune for a hotel.

hi. i don't have any points to compare but we liked where we stayed last year which was only 25RMB per night. New rooms, hot showers and clean common rooms with free continental breakfast. near 7/11, money changer, mall, puduraya bus station and krt. its hip with nice interiors.

Hostel Name : Number Eight Guesthouse
Address : No 8-10, Jalan Tengkat Tung Shin,,
Malaysia.

Fax Number : +60321444250

Rooms do tend to get booked up in KL. I've been three times and had problems on the second and third time. Also, just relooked at your budget...for 30-45 USD you can get a much better place/room. Haven't visited any in this range, but I'm sure you could find some on the net.
