So you are almost ready to go, and the rucksack is full to bursting with all those come in handy travel accessories.
But, if you had to be mean and remove everything bar the minimum amount of clothing necessary (which would be a whole new topic in its own right) and your passport, small washkit, and first aid kit - what 3 items could you NOT bear to leave at home or travel without? And why?
A special photo? A penknife? Wooly knitted monkey? Camera? A certain food - a taste of something familiar if you are ever at a low ebb?
No matter how ridiculous or quirky they may be perceived to be by others, what are your top 3? After all, some may scoff, but then maybe they are missing out on something! Enlighten us!
[ Edit: Sorry, no promos please... ]
My hair straighteners, nice lingerie and my full beauty regime (cleanser, toner, moisturisor!)
None of these are at all necessary but lm very girly and l like to be pampered!
Plus lm not really a backpacker & dont own a rucksack but rather a wheelie suitcase!!
I don't know if a swiss army knife counts as unneccessary (mine never leaves my person except when i'm asleep), but that would be one. My MP3 player and speakers would probably be the other two, or, if they count as one, a small bag of british style tea bags [on trips longer than about a month-6weeks].
About the only things that i carry which is really a luxury (carried for no apparent reason) are a small stuffed toy - a long running theme with a friend, and who gets lots of pics of him taken in strange places etc - and a Welsh flag.
Face cream, Mac compact and hairdryer - although half the time I've got the wrong adapter or the thing blows. Still, I pack it anyway!
my camera!!! i guess that might not qualify as an unnecessary item. it's all about the memories! i like to come home with a full memory card.
oh, and of course i can't leave without my makeup bag. i can rough it, but i gotta look good doing it
MP3 player, (I nearly died when it was robbed!), Camera, and my Swiss Army (the amount of things I have used that for is incredible).
my camera!!! i guess that might not qualify as an unnecessary item.
Funnily, I think my camera, my debit card and my credit card are about the only things that I consider necessary to travel. The rest of the stuff I can buy along the way.
Epilator (yes, I'm female and I don't like doing it continental stylie OR shaving legs every day...)
Pumice stone (very handy foot remedy for dirty dry heels after walking around in flip flops all day)
Make up bag (but I must add, it's an eighth of the size of what it is at home, so I'm not doing so bad!)
i dont leave for a few weeks left and i know already that i dont really need me aussie flag, terry towling hat and photo of my mates, but there are still commin
