Hien deleting them doesn't mean you can't open new ones just to bug him... It's not as if the whole Off Topic is going to be deleted... (Well, now there's a thought...)

Just out of personal curiosity, why do those threads bug people?

It's a bit annoying for people that don't get involved simply because those threads are always at the top of the list - finding, erm, relevant off-topic threads (if you know what i mean) isn't always so easy, as many sink quickly off the top page because all the "continue" threads have been replied to since. (I have occassionally replied to a few in the past, but very rarely. The only i can think I have in the last several months is one reply to the - then - brand new Geog names one, and i've ignored that since as it just builds up so quickly)

I have no problem with the Continue threads, or their usage, but they do always rise to them top. At one point there were so many which were going on all the time - basically filling a page - i didn't bother even visting OT for a few months.

Having said that, i WOULD be all for Heins idea of not counting those replies in the post count, as they do dramatically inflate peoples post counts

AHEM......

If memory serves, and this time it does perfectly, there are TWO Moderators for Off Topic. This one votes NO on the issue of removing the continue threads. Guess that means Hien and I cancel each other out.

One moderator or two, or three for that matter, every member is entitled to a vote. And no cancellation of votes as I'm only asking who's for it, not who's against it.

Or would you like us to wait until you cross the ultimate mark of 9999 posts before we proceed with it? This can be arranged.

That's right. Start a new one. And I'm very sure all of you could catch up to the current level in no time.

Very well said, Rich. I totally agree with you.

If this could get into a regular member so much, think about the new members.

Yup, it's time to show the REAL post count minus all the continue threads.

To those who are against the proposal of the deletion of continue threads for the sake of seeing real post count, I would like to know what impact would it cause to all of you regular members, if those threads are removed. It's not like we are asking for a ban in continue threads. (hmm... now that's another thought )

Treat this as a spring cleaning for the OT. :)

Actually, it would have interesting to see which names people come up with (without looking in the atlas), including you! But Yakutsk was a nice one Rich;)

Waiting would be nice just because TP may melt down altogether and those "continue" threads won't even be an issue then. But, do as you wish. It's nice to know that only one side is going to be considered - very democrat. But, as we all know by now - TP is not a democracy.

You take the high road and I'll take the low road. And, I'll still get to 10,000 before ye... Everybody sing!
