I've only taught in Thailand but here's what I think of the experience: pay is v good by local standards and thais are very relaxed generally (just don't criticise! go with the flow!!). People who teach here arent doing it to save money by any stretch of the imagination but because of the lifestyle. Thailand is beautiful and cambodia and lao aren't far either. If you are working for a school you'll get a bit under a month paid hols in the summer (but you could maybe take summer school off, unpaid, which is another month) and maybe a week or so in october (summer is march-may here). But that's only if you sign a year contract, I signed a 4 month contract through an agency but had no paid holidays (though I do get an end of contract bonus). As for language schools I have no idea what the holidays are like.
