Hi all,
have been considering applying for this Working Holidaymaker with my boyfriend. Since we are not married, it is possible that only ONE of us will get the visa? :( hoping to travel together though my boyfriend is a little apprehensive about leaving his job here and he's already 28. So those who 's already in UK with this visa, it is worthwhile?
Thanks!

hello everybody....

my gf is from HK and at the moment she is there. she just applied yesterday for the WHV.... she had the form handed in the British Consulate there and the lady told her that they will call her if they need interview or not...

Today she received a call asking for her to come for an interview at 19/11....

Does anybody knows what do they ask you there so I can inform her and have more chances of getting the visa???

If they ask you for an interview does it automatically mean that your chances of getting the visa are less????

Do you have anything to suggest me of telling her so she can prepare better for the interview???

P.S: I have to say that she was already here for the last 3 years studying in college, using a HKSAR passport and now she went back to apply for the WHM visa using a BNO passport... Her account here has been credited with 3000 pounds roughly from her parents, money intended for travelling...

Thanks for your time...

Will be submitting my application sometime in February. Was informed by the British High Com that the validity is only 3 months. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Any advise from all of you out there?

Hi Su Chuah and Li Cheng,

How are you doing? Well sorry for replying it late to answer your questions, ve'been busy this week.

UK WHM is opened to all who are age 30 and below. I'm heading there with my gf as well.
Frm my point of view, it'll be a hard decision for your (Li's) boyfriend . At the age 28, he might now already has a stable career, probably a hse and reasons to build up a family. I might be wrong, but this is what I see on my self as a guy.

2ndly, what's the first thing that come across your mind, that this UK WHM VISA pop up? What's the secret or force behind that attract you on this application? Honestly speaking, I'm in to backpacking and traveling. I do have a career now at one of the MNC, I could have work hard and save up for my future.
But, I don't have enough of traveling and seeing new things, provided the job I'm working now required me to travel around the world to meet clients and all, then it's fine.
But I'm stucked here in my cubicle watching these 2 LCD Screens!

I'm only 23 and will be 24 in another 3 months time. Gee... I dun wanna see at this age all my years are only talking about work work work and stuck my self in this very same place and faces. I already missed the chances to go oversea-studies like my friends did due to financial problems. I work my self up and paid for my U till I graduated. But what I have till today?
I'm afraid of one day when I'm at the age of 30 or over, looking back on my younger time (current), I'll regret that I didn't fully utilise my younger time with my self interest to go backpack or experience new lifestyle and meeting new faces out there.

If I'm to continue my job and stick in Malaysia, I bet the best I can do is to earn a decent or average pay, and keeps paying monthly installments or debts and doing the routine daily work again and again till I retire. Imagine that you probably need to pay car's installment up to 4-5 yrs? Or maybe you getting an apartment or hse that probably gonna tie me up installing till I die hehe... Then I'll see my self covered with bills and debts around my waist every month... and by the time I'm settling down, do you think I'll dare to risk my career/job that I needed badly to pay my bills? The definite answer is "NO".

Just my 2 cent.

Nicholas ;)

Yeh!!! Kody rules!! I think that's the major major reason we all want to leave this country!! Life is SHORT!!

Ever think about if you die tomorrow what will you do today? I don't think anybody will want to go to work! At least not me. Of course the truth is you may not die and you have plan for the days to come. Give it a shot, it's a life time experience!

When you're 30 years old or 40, you look back, at least I did something besides wake up in the morning, traffic jam, reach office, sit down in your cubicle, turn on computer, doing something brainless (cause you're already an expert you don't need brain to work), most of the time you work overtime (cause too much work), reach home about 9 or 10 pm, have your dinner, watch TV, sleep. Next day you woke up wondering what day is it but still you need to go work and the next day and the next day and the next day.... I'm getting so sick of my job, last week is the worst cause every morning I woke up I was wondering "do I need to go to work today?" of course, it's a yes. "I wish I could just stay in my bed forever!!"

No I haven't get anything yet busy with my work and applying job online. Will do some shopping soon but still don't know what to get. At my aunt is sponsoring me her backpack. God bless her!!

Talk to you later!!

hi all....

This is in regards to the question "is it worth it?"

I totally agree with Kody's point of view.... i think the worst feeling in the world is regret...but then again... if you do go, you might regret giving up your job...

I can only tell you why i myself am applying to do this. If i stay, it's pretty clear how my life will go. I'll get a job, get in the rat race and before i know it, i'll be like everyone else.... don't get me wrong... there's nothing wrong with that.... it's just that PERSONALLY, i feel like there's gotta be more to life than just that.

Another reason i wanna do this is also to pretty much find myself. Yeah, yeah.... i know that sound oh-so-cliche but it's the truth. i grew up with my mind made up about what i wanted to do with my life... now i'm not so sure. i'm hoping this trip will give me some sort of clarity.

i don't know if any of the above helped at all. But one last bit of advise. Don't look at it as giving up your career. look at it as gaining 2 years of your life that you wouldn't otherwise be able to experince. 2 years checking out EUROPE.... just think about that for a second. But keep in mind that you most probably will be WAY OUTTA your comfort zone. i reckon that if you're the type that's picky about the type of jobs you do, DON'T GO! you'll just end up going broke and having a miserable time.

Lastly, consider this. You're asking a forum full of people who WANT to go on this trip. i really DOUBT anyone here is gonna try and talk you out of it (hey, i may be wrong). I think what you're really looking is affrimation that you doing this trip is right for you. If that's the case, i think you've already made up your mind!!!
