Thanks for all the help in regards to the questions that they ask at immigration. I will be arriving in London on 28th Feb. I'm a little nervous about it, even though I should have nothing to worry about.

Does anyone know about driving in the UK? I'm a little unsure about what this site is saying.

Does this mean I can drive with my Australian license without exchanging for a UK license?

Glad to hear that some of you actually prepare to leave the country.

As for me, :( I am still waiting for the reply from British High Com... I have submitted all the relevant documents since last 17 Dec 04. It has been a month already and still have no reply for the application. So I am wondering whether anyone from here waited sooo long to get the visa approved? As for me, if it is definitely approved, I don't mind. But what if after waited for so long and I get to know that I have to attend the interview in 2006. Is it normal for them to process this soooo long??? I have been calling Visa Application Centre and everytime I got the same answer, "still in the process" .... sigh

My congrate to those who have the visa approved, and good luck to those who are still waiting the result and those going to apply WHV.

I submitted on 13th Dec and managed to get it in a week time. If im not mistaken your process has been delayed maybe due to continuous public holidays. That's the reason i submitted earlier. Btw, one more thing, are you sure your documents needed are complete? Did they call you to request any additional documents? Anyway, as for some from the forum, they did wait for a month then only get the visa. So, not much to worry if you are sure that your submission is perfect! GOOD LUCK!;)

Dear YS,

I am sure that I gave all the necessary documents. Anyone been called to submit the additional documents before? I did not receive any call for additional documents. So I guess my documents are okay. I guess like what you mentioned, December is always their holiday month and because of that, it may delay the process.

As for anyone of you who are still waiting for the WHV, do you wait for more than a month too? My friend applied together with me on the same day, and like myself, still waiting for the status to change in the website. Hope everything will go smoothly and no interview.

Quoting Achtung

Hi Scissors

Totally agree with you about UK...London at least. Was pretty depressed when i got here....all alone...didnt know anyone...but two days into the trip and i've totally settled terms of meeting an interesting bunch of young the youth hostel. Managed to figure out the transport system...which is obviously of paramount importance!

You're definitely NEED to have company here...else you're bound to be low...especially in this weather...pretty chilly altho the locals deem its a rather mild winter !

Met people from France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Sri Lanka, America, Scotland, Ireland, Mexico, Germany, if THATS not an electic tell me what is ! ;)

As for the guys who want to get into the UK with their WHM visas...let me tell you that i was asked to get an xray...but the questions included :

1. Is this your first time to the UK ?
2. How long do you plan to stay here ?
3. What do you plan to do after the 2 years are over ?

Be sensible with your answers and you will breeze thru immigration.

London is a very expensive place, the pound dont necessarily very far here. I'm spending way too much...but then i'm also managing to have a good time (including getting sloshed almost every nite !)...thats one thing that you need to do...dont get overly caught up in the job search...make time to take in London...not everything costs the sky !! The best thing that you'll find here is the plethora of cheap travel deals to Europe and Continental America. My Puerto Rican friend found a deal to Budapest for 99p...ok so it was excluding taxes...but STILL ? So if travelling is your cuppa tea...get your "arses" to other place to be ! Si E-scissors ?

Cheers from London for now !

i thought your sri lankan or indian friends in uk were supposed to receive you?

Anyway same here, was asked to do an Xray upon arrival. No hassle in clearing immigration. The immigration officer was pleased to see a Singapore passport and cleared me without any questions. Zilch.

Dear Jaimeliew
My friend who got his visa few months ago, he waited for more than 2 months and he had been asked for additional documents which he didnt submit. However, after he submitted the documents, the process became faster. Finally, he got his visa and he is now in UK. SO, don't worry. I think you should be no problem!! ;)

i just submitted my application 3 days ago in Malaysia. there were 3 'WHV' attendants. one of them, an indian(i think) was a bit more fussy about the documents. she was very thorough but also strick. she will ask u to get more documents if the things u put in is not transparent enough. at the second try, a cute girl named Ester was more lenient with the submission. For the fees, its 40 RM upfront

Good day,

I have a quetion here and hope that 1 of you could post a reply for it. My question is im planning to travel to UK sometime in October or November of this year 2005.So can I start applying or to be precise send in my application for the WHM now or wait till JULY or August to send in my application. Because I believe reading somewer in this forum that we can only apply the VISA 3 months prior to our travel date. Can any1 give confirmation on that.
