hi there, kody. it's surprising to know lots of us malaysians are planning to leave for uk, for better life perhaps? or quids? :o)whatever the reason, i believe great oppertunities always lies ahead, if backed with determination and motivation to change.
before hearing about this WHM scheme, i was actually planning for a norwegian visiting visa (valid to 1 year stay) since i have PR relatives over there. after hearing from my friend's friend about WHM, now i look forward to apply one, and plan to start this adventure as soon as Jan 2006. i think it's much, much better to apply for WHM, since i can have an extra 1 year in europe instead of just one year applying for the norwegian visiting visa. moreover, you need to speak norwegian in order to survive in oslo.
i've also been to the MCA building and already prepared the necessary items to the application; although in retrospect, i actually have 11 months to do so!
i'm truly ahead on shifting myself to europe, and through this forum i'm hoping to find a partner-in-crime to uk; be it male or female, be it under working holidaymaker visa or else.
so to those interested, please contact me via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or simply reply this thread so that we can have a meet to chat & discuss this further.
Any Malaysians (Singapore PR) have applied for their UK WHV in Singapore?
What is the tax like in UK?
Greeting to all...
How are my fella mates doing there.
Hope everyone is doing fine there.
Well well well, seems that the reply on this topic is still HOT and not stoped yet. Bravo!
As usual, I see ppl happily planning for the UK trip, some are still in doubts and worrying on their UK WHM applications, some already got their UK WHM VISA approved but still doubt on their future there & many many more. This is life huh?
Well before I'm leaving to UK in 2mths time and get limited access to Internet, I'll try to help again. But I've to apologize to those who PM (personal message) me and did not get my reply, I hope you understand why but I do try my best to reply ok. But I've to say it out now, that after the month of March '05, I'll be difficult to reach and won't be online that frequent anymore, due to limited access of Internet compare to the "Freedom to surf in the office". And pray hard that I'll have that again in UK.
To steve_KL, you need to apply exactly 3 mths before your departure date. Enough said.
To nbehinder, most of the questions had been submitted in previous replies frm some of the helpful members. U should be able to find them back. Do some homeworks, you'll find them. Anyway, just be prepared and answer honestly. It should works. If I'm not mistaken, there's a TP member frm Hong Kong, got the questionnaires. Good Luck.
To Zani, partner in crime in UK huh? Why not? Well, keep in touch then.
To Jaime, life goes on... look at the bright side ok? You'll make it. Thanks for accepting me in the Friendster.com. Cheers!
To gopeace, I've no idea on the taxing thingy. I don't mind how many percent they (Brits) gonna tax me... I'll figure it out "once" I got a job there. Frankly speaking... I'm still in doubt of securing a job in UK.
To Porcelina, I did make an effort to PM your question back. Check ur msg box.
Well, I think that's all fella...
This is sanjay from india.
I wil soon be applying for the whm in mumbai.(india)

I am little bit confused about my things to include things not to.
Pls do reply me on email@example.com
or u can post a reply also.
Cheers and regards :-)
I'd just like to say once again that this thread has been a real help. Everyone has been so kind and friendly. I'll be sure to keep posting with my experiences once I get there in a little over a month.
ok... am finally here. Sunny ole England... hehe... those who are coming... you will need LOTS of warm clothes... jumoers... sweaters... LOTS of them... nothing will prepare you for how cold it is here.... not even being here before.
At the airport be prepared for the health examination, They will have you take a chest x ray. That'll take some time. i had to wait about an hour extra but then again there were quite a lot of ppl there. alternative you can bring a recent one with you. i think they'ii accept that but not to sure about how recent it has to be.
immigration will ask you just the standard questions. how long you planning to stay... is this your first time in the uk... etc... just answer normally.
Bank account. this is what you should get done. open a HSBC in whatvere country your at. then have them send the statemnet to your uk address. HSBC here will accept that as proof of address. otherwise you gotta wait till you get a job then use your tax thingy ( cant remember what its called) as proof.
Ok. hope that helps some. Again good luck to all those waiting. Those already here.... send me a private message or something. should meet up.
I have just received my WHV and will be travelling to London on the 24th Apr. Any fellow Singaporean travelling on the same day? Pls PM me..
Would a kind soul pls describe the x-ray process and do you have to pay for it??
hi.. firstly this is a great forum to share your experiences.. and i read through it all.. well those of you who are already there.. if you could share your experiences on the first few days of survival with few do's and donts that would make life more easier for those coming there.. so go on!! ill be reading!
Thanks so much to the pioneers of this thread...you guys have laid out SO much of useful, first hand experiance information which you really cannot find anywhere else.
I also applied for the 2 yr WHV to UK in Dec and it was approved with a week and my passport returned to me. How ever once I checked my passport at the british high commssion on the page that the visa has been pasted under a heading called description it states:
" no recourse to public funds, to work as a working holiday maker changes must be authorized."
Before leaving the premises of the british high comm. i asked the lady who gave me the visa what this means and if it means that i wont be able to work in uk & she said no i can work in uk but not as a work permit holder. I have no idea what this means and am worried that i might find myself in uk and not permitted to work!!!
I am in seychelles right now & need to clarify this before leaving.
Can anyone advice me on the above or let me know if you have the same thing (those of you who already have th visa?!?!)
Thanks a million
