When you start your first job in England, you will need to apply for a National Insurance number. You can get this from your local Department of Social Security (DSS) Benefits Agency office. You need to take with you your passport or birth certificate as well as two photos. You will be asked to fill in form CF5400 and it may be useful to have a letter from your previous employer with you. You can start to work before receiving your National Insurance Number.
infor plug from http://www.working-holiday-uk.com/work_jobs_uk.html
hope it hepls
Thanks for the offer dave
I opened my UK bank account through Travelex before I left the UK. It was really easy. All I needed was my passport, driver's license, min. 1500 pounds and that's basically it. Once I got to the UK, all I had to do was pick up my cards.
I am currently looking for a job. From what I understand, once you get the job, your employer can write some letter saying you have been offered a job. You take this with you to get a temporary NI number whilst they process your application.
thanks for the input people, i had tried logging into travelex, understand there have no branch here in malaysia, any malaysian out there who knows any other bank or maney transfer agency that can ensure me to open an bank account while i reached UK? If i happen to know anyone there, will this make it easier? as my refferal?
To all fellow WHM visa holders out there, I am new to this forum and boy i managed to finish from the very 1st page to 45th thread in less than 5 hours! I must say time very spent indeed. It has to rank as the finest and most informative forum from my experience so far. Good Job people...
Well, I consider myself lucky. I waited 8 months for the interview and at last, the long wait has finally come to an end. You can't really imagine the suspense that is starting to build once u have ur passport back in ur hands. Now, I am planning to jet off somewhere in late may or early june. Im in the midst of hunting for cheap airfare and planning my resignation from my current post as well. So far the best deal tat Ive gotten is SGD 1300 year return tickets. But the catch is u have to depart from Changi n do a transit in KLIA. Otherwise u ppl can check out the coming MAtta Fair.
After reading and digesting all the info, my main concern will be in the areas of accomadation and getting a decent job. I will be based in Manchester, after all, Old trafford is the best place to be. M kinda worried bout getting a affordable place to stay. I will be crashing in temporarily at my frens place until I find my way out. Wouldnt wanna trouble them for too long. Anway, I would really appreciate if u guys can advise on accomadation/job related stuffs in Manchester. If anyone of u intend to travel around May/June, perhaps we can work out something together. PM me and we shall DO IT.
Lastly, it seems to me that the HSBC UK-Malaysia account opening thing is still very much unconcluded. I will be dropping by tomorrow to check out further..Hope that would help..
P/s To dd and req - wats ur plan like? mind to share?
Heh, Australian here. I'll be in Manchester in June, getting work and hoping to get work at a temping agency. I'm a secretary, I've been assured that I won't have any problems getting work.
I'm staying with a friend for the first few weeks, but would like to find share accom in the area.
So perhaps if anyone is interested in sharing around that time, drop me a line. I've yet to check out the rental market around that area yet, so this is part of my online search.
To those who went for the WHM Visa Interview... could u please tell me what r the questions raised ..or what r the questioned asked to the applicant..so far..i only know a few question that they ask...
It would be helpful for me for my interview...Can anyone help me out..not only me..bnut the rest who gonna have their interview in the future..
I've been waiting for my Visa for like ages (nearly 2 months). Was initially told that it should only take at most a month coz it's just a str8 forward method of decision making of either elligible/not , if not, either decline or interview. Definitely, latter is dreaded though but waiting is suffering too. If anyone from the Commission happen to read this, please help expedite my application.
Hello, it's been a long time and this thread is getting 'fatter'. may i know what happen to kaixin, coopie, jamieliew and leftright? Did u all get ur visa? i havent apply... i am going to USA in May to attend my brother's convo. I am going to apply for my USA visa in march. then my WHS visa in April (meaning i'll be leaving for UK in July). Will my USA visa affect the WHS application? and will i get my passport back in time for my trip in USA? shall i apply in August then leave for UK in November (this is better since i'm a teacher). but will it be too cold? please advise... thanks!
how's UK nick? enjoying urself? me still stuck here in M'sia. Have fun!!!
regarding the form, should i print it back to back (having a total of 4 pages) or each page on a piece of paper (7 pages?) and how do u fill in 4.8 - 4.12? as i have applied for UK visa before and have been refused a visa to another country. what can we fill in for section 10 - other information?
guess most malaysians have got their visas and off to UK. so penghong, are u going for the interview in July? i wondered why some of them got their visa so easily? how many friends do we put down in the application form? can i show them my FD as i dont want to withdraw only to realise later the application fails.
