Hello, I'm Rosey from Malaysia. I got a lot of informations after reading this page. But I still have some questions to ask anyone before I submit my applications and documents.

1.) The bankbook, with the big amount inside. Is it ok if mine a new opened bank account, and less than 3 mths statements inside ? Currently mine are all jointed account with my family. And I will open a new bank account for this WH stuff.

2.) Declare letter for myself and loan from parents. Is it like a formal letter ? With the VFS and my address on it ? Do you have any sample for these letter, for me as a reference ?

3.) Do I really need to bring my parents bankbook along to the VFS center to prove my parents are effortable to pay my spending in UK ?

4.) What if I don't have any job or study ? Cause just return to M'sia from USA few months ago. Do I need to leave it empty the space about employment statue on the application form ?

Hopefully someone can help me to answer these questions soon. I wish to sent the documents by next month, or on May.

Appreciate your help.

Rosey

Hi everyone, need some advice here, is buying a return ticket better or buying one way ticket? As I'm not sure when I'm coming back to Msia, I was thinking of buying one way. Please advice, thanks.

I found this advert on the web.

"Work From Home - earn extra income f/t-p/t, £1.60 each envelope you mail, plus £50 new started bonus after 1st 50 envelopes, +£5 commission for eacr order generated by your mailing. For your free info pack send self addressed envelope to: Homes Jobs 4u, Proze Computers, PO Box 36938, London SE6 4WY or request it from our website: Http://www.homejobs4u.co.uk"

Can anyone tell me if this is a genuine "job" or "money-making" opportunity?

Thx

heh ciqiang

I don't know what the prices for you are in your area. But I went with return.

The reason? Apart from the financial security that I'll be able to return whenever I need to, the cost of a one way ticket is 75% of a return ticket (although it may be different for your area).

I know that I'll need to forfeit the return flight if I don't want to go back in year, but it's nice for it to be there, and a return flight is cheaper if I go back in the year.

If you know definitely that you won't be returning after one year, then maybe you should get a one way ticket.

Wouldn't give this one the time of day - if it says earn extra income, it means you do a lot of work for very little money. This one sounds like one of those where you envelope up thousands of letters and get very little money for it. Jobs like these should definitely be avoided.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the advice.

Was thinking it'll be good if I can get some extra income during my free time.

Hi all,
I've been reading through the posts in this forum, and find them to be extremely helpful. I'm in the UK now, and have not had any problems with the application of the WHM visa, and the immigration officers here. Maybe i'm just lucky.

I submitted my application on the 15th of Dec, and was approved on the 23rd of Dec....5 working days as stated. I don't know if it was just perfect timimng or sheer luck, but i completed, organized, and submitted every necessary piece of document or support letter i could think of.

When i arrived in Heathrow, i was suprised to see the amount of foreigners at the immigration line. The situation was so chaotic, it got me a little worried. Some of the immigration officers got a little flustered that day, probably due to the influx of foreign tourists, and probably also due to the fact that most of them (foreigners) could hardly speak english. But the weird thing was, i only saw one English immigration officer on duty, the rest were of different backgrounds (i guess it would be easier if they had officers that could speak the same language). Anyway, that gorgeous lady officer was nice, and didn't ask much. I had to go for an X-ray though. Other than that, it was really quite easy-going.

I am located in the South West now, in the Somerset county. It's a beautiful place, it gets quite chilly when the wind blows. I have registered with quite a number of recruitment agencies here in Taunton, but none of them could get back to me on any IT-related jobs. Temporary work would be easier to get. They're not really keen on hiring WHM visa holders when it comes to permanent positions. So if those of you looking for a longer working term good luck.

Lastly, thanks a million to Kody for starting this thread, and everyone else who has contributed, it has been of most help. Biyeeee!!!

Hey Merlin,

I know a buddy of mine who submitted her application towards the end of Jan and is still waiting. She is getting very frustrated too. She's been to UK many times b4 and has her sister there to assist her with all documents. Whn she called to confirm, the HighComm told her to wait as the process is taking longer than it used to. But 3 months....yeah right!!

Anyway, I hope you'll know soon. But be prepared to wait.
