Don't bother calling them up. They'll never answer and if they do, they won't have time to answer all questions on the phone. Just hand in your application with all the required documents. If everything's in order, they'll issue you a visa within 5 working days. If they need to interview you, they will call you before the 5 days are up. If they don't call you by 5 working days, just take a nice stroll down jalan Ampang on the 6th day and collect your visa. ;o)
just wondering.... does anyone know if it's possible to do something like a working holiday in the states?
Thanks for your help JohnnyBoy and crazynuts...
So lemme just get this straight... i submit my form... 2 to 5 days to process... if there's an intereview they'll let me know within that time which means it could put me back bout 2-3months.... no interview i can practically leave the day after i pick up my visa.... is that right?
i heard that ive gotta leave within 3 months from the date it's issued or else it expires or something... is that also true??..
hey priss, yes you have leave within 3 months after the visa issued.
I've got a question here regarding the visa fee. I'm confused.
First there's this visa fee RM 263, then there's this service charge RM 35. Does that mean we have to pay RM 298 in total?
Some news update for those who are going to apply the WHM Visa.
I was updated frm Debbie which also a member of TP.
She icq-ed me this morning and I was told that she went & applied the WHM Visa in Wisma MCA yesterday.
I bet she must be busy, and let me help her to post up some info.
I was told that, the British High Comm. will ONLY collect your orignal copy of your documents, eg. Passport, Saving Acc.Book, Degree, Diplomas all in original copy. They'll seal it in a plastic bag and asked you to check the website for the result before going back to collect after 5 working-days. They won't be responsible if there're looses on the documents.
Besides, 2 VISA photos are required where NO BLUE backdrop ONLY accepting WHITE COLOR backdrop ( I really didn't know this,
it doesn't stated in that checklist ).
Furthermore, she got a letter of evidence that she booked an air return ticket frm a travel agency. Hmm...not too sure whether this will help us or not.
Finally, you're required to pay for the VISA fee of RM263 in form of bankdraft direct to British High Commision, and RM36 cash for the service charge.
No matter what, thanks for the useful info and all the best to you Debbie, and may your dream come true asap!
Hi y’all! I just submitted my visa application form yesterday. Since I’m well prepared (with all the information from this forum), it’s piece of cake. I got my pictures taken against the white background – no problem for that except he asked me to cut out the border. I bought the cashier’s order a day before from RHB bank – they accept any bank’s cashier’s order. Bank charges less for cashier’s order than post office charges their postal order. Not sure how much they charge you if you buy the casher’s order at the visa application center. I’ve no idea what a cashier’s order until I bought it the other day and you need to know the recipient’s name and fill up a form. Not as easy as postal order. I handed him my stack of original and copy documents and form, he checked the form and asked me to pay RM 35. He sticks a number that he tore from a token that he gave to me as receipt. He asked me to check the website in 2 to 5 days working day. He put my all documents and passport and account book into a plastic bag. That’s it. Now all I left to do is pray and look for jobs.
I put my arrival date in January, I know it’s freezing but get to see the snow first and ski.
Yesterday, I wrote a message to be posted but since I left it for lunch. I have to re-login so everything is gone and the excitement as well.
I’ll talk to you later. Bye!
Did you submit a return ticket and how much bank balance did you show in your application. Your help will be much appreciated.
Hi Siew Yit,
What's cashier's order? Is it the bankdraft for the VISA fee?
And for the recipient name is it direct to British High Commision?
Or are you refering to the bank statement/ bank balance where your saving acocunt book to be given to them?
Btw, any news on your application?
A bunch of questions! Sorry!! I'm getting all worked up and prolly for nothing. I applied for my working holiday visa and its processing at the mo. In my bank statement I handed in had over RM7500 and over RM27k in cash in my private banking account. Do you think its enough? Cuz ive read in other posts that people have around RM10k but it could easily be borrowed and put in just for the time being. I'm hoping the visa officers don't think that way.
When they say to check in 2-5 working days, its usually 5 working days before u get anythign right? I won't have to start worrying if i see nothing in 3-4 working days right?
I studied over in the UK and i just graduated but didn't have the time to travel round when I was there and am thinking this would be a good time and opportunity to go round and work at the same time with this visa. Does anyone know what the chances are of getting a working holiday visa here in KL is? What's the percentage of people they turn down and accept? I'm also planning to leave pretty soon like in 2.5 weeks! I hope they won't be arses and turn my app down. fingers crossed!
Hope all goes well. All replies will be much appreciated. Thaaaaaaaank u!
It has been 5 working days since I applied for WHM last Friday and when I checked on the website for the result , it is stated that my application has been sent to the BDHC. So what does that mean? accept or reject? I thought they gonna let us know whether they reject or approve the application within 5 days. Anyone knows? I tried to call the center, but the line is always busy.
Another thing is, I heard from someone that, if our WHM application is rejected, they will not let you enter UK for 5 years?!!??? Anyone heard a thing abt this? I believe this is not true.
And the current earliest date for interview under this scheme is September 2005, which mean they are going to hold ur passport until Sept 2005 should they need to interview u ???
