I would nto tell the british high comission that you are interested to go to the uk on a working holiday because you are thinking of moving there... Just tell them uyour bf is there and you both would like to travell using London as a bse as it is soooo cheap to travell about Europe.... From what I have gathered in this Forum, what they want to hear is That you want to go to the UK to travel and any work that you might do is incidental to support that travel. In the application process, it seems that they are looking for any chance that you might go awol and if they see that potential in you, they might refuse approval. I do know that you can typically extend your regular visitor's visa if you get enganged. (I have a friend who stayed for 9 months this way after she became engaged to a uk boy) Good Luck

Hi there all!

I'm a Malaysian working in Singapore for many years, I've got my WHM visa last week and the effective date is from 29 April 2007 onwards!

I would like to check out if anyone from Malaysia / Singapore is also going to UK on Working Holiday Visa within these period? Leave me a message!:)

Terrence,

I'm not sure my case would help you because i applied my WHM via Singapore British High Commission. When i submited my application, I have more than S$6000 in my bank account statement, which equavalent to more than RM13,500 ... Anyway according to the old posts in this forum, any amount greater than RM10,000 would be safe. For the accomodation wise, if you stated that you have family/friends staying in UK, they will want you to produce an endorsement letter from your family/friends to prove the statement. For my case, i simply booked a night of hostel accomocation on the date i plan to arrive at London. I gave them the hostel address, no question being raised.

Case might be different between Singapore and Malaysia, you might wish to get some advise from those who got their WHM from Malaysia recently :)

I am now in London on a WHV, been here for a little over 7 months and will be going back to Singapore for CNY tomorrow and then back again after 2 weeks.

I'm a Singaporean and the whole process of applying for the visa is hasslefree and prompt. I received my visa in a week and I took off for London in 6 weeks. I have a friend here who kindly took me in for 2 weeks before I got my accomodation and job settled. For applications and immigration, I put her address and have her number with me just in case. I got through the custom in less than 3 minutes too so, to me, everything was well.

I just hope that I have no problems clearly the custom at Heathrow tomorrow (all that sickening security checks that takes more than an hour!) and coming back to London.

Dear suansuan,

My friend email me a letter which stated he will support me on financial if i need help form him and i will be staying at his place upon arriving. he also provides his contact and address.

Interview wise, usually will be the generic Q like why u this n that....what u plan.....prepare yourself on some route plan like what u plan to do in that 2 years...a rough one in mind will do......

Thank you very much for all the info being shared. Hopefully my application would get thru without any problems. Does anyone knows how long does the process takes?

regards,
Terrance
