hie everyone.
im new here.
hope someone can give me a hand..

1. my passport going to expire soon by oct of this year.
should i renew my passport before i apply the WHM visa?

2. if i renew my passport then only apply, unlucky i rejected and give me 'rejected' stamp on my passport, then within 5 years (bcoz i just renew) will affect to me if i apply for next time & others countries' visa??

3. the WHM visa fees RM6++ wont refund if get rejected?

4. not everyone will get call for interview??

5. is it lower education like SPM holders will get call for interview?

Hi sadjordan
1) Indeed you need to renew your passport, I cant recall well but I think the requirement used to require applicant to have a valid travel document which mean 6 mths is enuf, however the process might take times mean your passport might expired during the process, Also remember Once you get the Visa, you are required to renew your passport as it is about to expired and u need to pay additional $$ to transfer your visa and this take time too

2) I think you wont get any reject stamp on your passport. They will just return your passport and do nothing about it

3) This are application fees so it is not refundable regardless of the result. However if the plan got suspended again, you can get your full refund

4) Interview can happen by random selection too

5) Im not sure is SPM holder gain enuf pt for the Visa or not

Hi Guys,

Do you all still remember me ????

Im back..... thanks tor the suspension., Im 27 yrs 4 mths old now. Well, Im among those ppl who apply for this visa 2 yrs ago and the entire plan got freeze/suspended.

Now Im in NZ. yeah Kiwi land. Been here for the pass 12 mths.
NZ have working holiday for Malaysian but only last for 6 mths. for other Country it last for 12 mths and renewable. Darn so unfair....... But once you get a job, go and apply for work permit, pretty fast and simple but need full medical check and Xray

The thing about WHV for NZ is pretty EZ and straight foward but u need to apply in SG as they dont have any processing centre in Msia

Im getting my NZ PR soon (within this mth i hope). Since the WHV in UK is reopen, I have been struggling ............ should i go or no go.......

Darn few more mths and im done..... but now i get a job in NZ but NZ is so diff from UK .... Help

Good day to all,

I'm new here, have been reading this interesting yet informative thread for awhile. Like most of you here, I'm one of the many working holidaymakers in UK & am currently residing in London, originally from KL, Msia.

I arrived in London last Dec, this is my 3rd month here. I have done some travelling & a few weeks ago I've started to look for a job. However, I find it quite difficult to get a job here & I wonder if this happens to you as well? I know some of you actually found some nice jobs here (the job you like, matching your experience & expectation etc). I am from a market research & marketing background.

I posted my cv online, applied for some jobs online & have also met some agents. The agents were very helpful initially, but they stopped calling me after failing to match me with the job they have. The response from them was that my WHM visa has restricted me to work only for 1 year but the employers are only interested in someone with a long-term work permit.

After a few tries, I felt a bit upset but still kept looking. I've also tried to apply for contract/ temp jobs, but have yet to get any good news. Is it really so diffcult to get a job here? I heard from my friends here that if you're a professional (esp accountant, engineer, doctor etc), it's much easier to get a job here, but for someone like me (marketing background), it'd be more difficult.

Would really appreciate if anyone here can share with me/ (us) your job hunting experience, success stories or advice me on how to go about in getting a job.

Many thanks!

~Lily*~

Wao,

Received so much msg from you guys, ;)

I will try to post a reply here hope it answer all the questions.

Basically most question it on WHV in NZ

Firstly I pick NZ because besides UK, that the only option we have as a Malaysian. AUS do have it as well but doesnt applicable for Malaysian.

During my application, the only option is to apply visa the high commission of NZ which is located in SG. There is one in Malaysia however, it does not do any processing. Basically go to the website and check on the requirements, fill it and bring all form and the requires documents with a photocopy of it to the Office for the to certified true copy (FOC). Unlike UK, you dont even have to leave a single original documents with them. Once they have approved your application, you can either mail your passport over for the visa or again you can visit them in SG.

The good news is, you are now able to apply thou online. As this is suppose to be UK WHV, I will just post the link here and check it out yourselves. :)

UK vs NZ
Just to list some major diff

1) In UK, if your visa expired, it seems easy to get a job (illegally) but in NZ this will almost nvr happen. Without a proper work permit, you will not be employ. So for those who plan to "jump aeroplane" can forget NZ

2) WHV in NZ only last for 6 mths and not renewable for Malaysian. Like UK, there is term for your employment. One of the term is, you are not suppose to hold a permenant job with this visa. However, if you get a contract or permenant job, you can apply for your permit but again employer prefer to employ ppl with residency or open work permit for x Duration.

3) The chinese comunity is huge in AUckland but english is still a must

4) To compare with UK or even in Msia, NZ is much less competative. Ppl really enjoy their life here

Dont delete this post oo, it might help those who are not able to visit UK.

Hi,

I'm a Malaysian studying in Singapore and will be graduating soon. Do I need to finish serving my 3 years bond in Singapore before applying for this programme? Since it's sort of a holiday visa, there should be no problem applying even though I haven't finish serving the 3 years bond, right? Will it will give me a higher chance of getting the visa since I'll need to come back to Singapore to serve my bond? Thanks in advance!

677. Posted by yapkh (Budding Member 34 posts) 9y

I think you can only apply when it come near to the end of your bond as i recall there is a validity for the visa. Mean once you get this visa, you need to travel within x mths

x = 3

Thanks for all the replies! But, I still have some queries. Is it possible for me to join the programme before finishing my 3 years bond? For example, I go to UK for this WHM after 2 years of working in Singapore and then after 2 years in UK, I come back to Singapore to serve the final 1 year of my bond.

Well, as far as i understand, you should as the company that your are bond with. The high commissioner of UK wont know or care about this i guess :)
