To answer your question about using the bank passbook...yeah I believe that should not pose a problem as long there is sufficient fund in you account that should be fine....advisable to carry along your bank passbook when entering the country(UK) so that you could show to the annoying Immigration people if they do ask.....
I've lodged my application last Monday...today is sixth day....no update on the web.....it just says 'SENT TO BRITISH HIGH COMMISSION'.....any of you guys here know how long it takes before thre is some news on it....im eagerly waiting for it...thanks in advacne...
My passport has been with them f%!@ers for 10 working days now. So not to worry! I thought it was only 2-5 days and so I could do some travelling around asia before I left. I rang the visa centre last friday but the lady did not know what was going on with the high comm. She said that the high comm has not told them anything at all or what the delay was all about. Who knows? Maybe they're changing the rules! Like there aren't enough already! May they hurry up with it!! It could be a while yet.
I've been hearing a lot about the delaying of the UK WHM VISA.
Not too sure whether this will help.
As mentioned earlier by Brian (JohnnyBoy):
"Don't bother calling them up. They'll never answer and if they do, they won't have time to answer all questions on the phone. Just hand in your application with all the required documents. If everything's in order, they'll issue you a visa within 5 working days. If they need to interview you, they will call you before the 5 days are up. If they don't call you by 5 working days, just take a nice stroll down jalan Ampang on the 6th day and collect your visa. ;o)
Update us if this really work.
Yo yo yo!
Just checked vfs again and still no change and so thought i'd stop by here to see if there are any updates...
I remember reading JohnnyBoy's post a while back... BUT going against what he said about not bothering ringing them, I thought i'd give it a shot and save myself a trip down town. I wasn't expecting it but she was NICE. Shock horror! She said that they haven't got the passports there with them and its with the British high comm, maybe she's lying! Who knows?
So, would anyone like to check it out and go there and try to get their passports back although there isn't a change in status on the vfs website? And then come back here and tells us all who are waiting eagerly and checking the website 5 times a day! Well, thats prolly just me. :-P
Any one bought travel or medical insurance for this trip? If yes, whom did u buy from? how much did it cost?
Thanks in advance for all input.
Ladies & Gentlemen,
I just came across this website.
Anyone feelike taking it. It seems like a great deal for backpackers like me.
i am wonder if the working holiday maker visa will be process during 5 working day in Malaysias? because my application takes 11 months to wait for an interview (this is my 2nd time application), and i am not the only one having this problem, my 1st application is 3 months wait (submited end pf April, interview end of July), my sister same like me but she got the visa, and my two friends submited around June, they are only one week time different, but early one is end of Oct and the later one is end of Dec go for an interview. one week different but few months different. and all of us need to attend interview. it is a long wait, encourage you guys really want to go for working holiday maker apply early as the process might take longer time to wait. and it won't guarantee success. you might fail and need to reapply for this visa again, like me! during my interview, i see half of the application had been turn down by the interviewer after the interview, it is a hardship to getting this visa nows a day. due to high rise of application. some people use it as a steping stone for seeking career opportunity in UK. it is true, my friend's friend doing this.
good luck to all.
if you applying for a working holiday maker visa, pls take note:
1. a valid passport issue already half years or else you have to provide your old passport as well.
2. sufficient fund for your 1st two months of stay in UK when you arrive.
3. a application, fully complete with no error.
4. higher educational certificate.
5. two passport size photograh no older than 6 months. or else take a new one.
6. you pass two years working record, for example, 3 to 6 months pay slip, employment letter for previous two years,
they will have lot of reason to ask you to come back again if they are not satisified with the document that you are providing to them. make a photocopy for all your document you will be submited to them as the process time might take longer and you will forget what you submited and what you write in your application form. check the malaysia high comission website again to make sure your document is fully prepare. and fill up the questionnaire for your application, there is a form for working holiday maker visa applicant.
i think that's all.
that's quite true for the interview date, because my interview schedule on next year end July and i submit my application end of Aug only. it is your luck how they want to put you in, because when i went for my 1st application interview, there is a guy also come for interview, he only wait for 2 months to attend his interview but i was waiting for 3 months to attend an interview, we should be the same if we are interview at the same date. of course not because of luck, is because do you in their ceteria to give you this visa early or something like that. because that guy working in oversea before (switzerland), studies in canada for his degree, and he has an aunt in UK to sponsor him accomodation. that's what i know. for the 3 months period of expiry for the visa is it true? because my sister get her visa and she can't travel to UK now because she don't have any friends there to help her to arrange things. she is alone because i am not getting my visa. not that lucky, because i go for the interview first and she go next, so she got her visa because i told her how to answer the interview.
