I have heard that Karrimor has now officially gone bust so all the products you see out there on the shelves will be the final products.
I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on this?
I am going away in September and was about to buy a Karrimor Global 50 - 70 backpack, however I'm not sure whether to buy it now. It seems to be the best bag out there and has everything I want in it but I assume because they are now in liquidation none of the life time warrenties will be adhered to?
Should I still go for the bag or should I turn to a Macpac? (as I was getting a pretty hard sell by the sales guy in the Cotswolds shop in Keswick)
Most packs are sturdy, so the warranty is not really an issue anyway; it all comes down to the type of clasps that is used. The older Karrimor models (mid-90s) used a brand-specific type, which could not easily be replaced with non-Karrimor parts. If that has changed, and you'd be able to get spares even when shops stop dealing in Karrimor parts, you could safely purchase it.
I'll reply to my own post for anyone who is interested. It turns out that Karrimor have gone into liquidation but they have been saved by a company (name escapes me now) and so the packs warrenty's will still count and they will still be creating new excellent products.
So good new to all
