Hi,

We are looking at flights from Buenos Aires to Cusco via Lima - but may have to hang Lima airport from 11pm to 6am the next morning. Does anyone know if it stays open? and if so is it safe?

It's safe for sure, but can't answer if it's open at night.
It's pretty modern with different bars and shops. Although not very big.

When I was there in 2004, it closed at night, but that may have been due to the reconstruction at the time. But íf it closes down, be sure not to linger in the neighbourhood surrounding the airport, which is iffy.

Hi
My partner and I stayed in Lima airport for a similar length of time in July 05. The airport stayed open all night and there were plenty of seats to sleep on overnight. It seemed really safe and lots of people were doing it.

Sleep well!
Nic

I confirm this information.

Yep :) Just best to check it if you can before you go. The area immediately outside the airport is not somewhere you want to venture into. Stay in the airport and you'll be fine.
