Hi,
I wonder if anyone could offer some advice on South America.

I am planning to go this Jully (2007) for 3 months backpacking and have no idea of where I should concentrate my search for destinations, as its a huge area to cover in only 3 months.

Can anyone let me the the must go/see destinations, or even a rough itinery.

Thanks for your help,
Cheers
msk

hey, i'll thinking of going to South America in June for 2 1/2 months ..so i got somewhat the same dilemnas as you ... i want to do it all but obviously that won't be possible ... Trying to figure out the cheapest way to get there ...

seems like my best option is Montreal - Buenos Aires then overland up to Forteleza (got a friend there) passing thru Uruguay - then do the Amazon trip to Bogota where i catch my flight back home. Seems to me like there is lots of travelling involve ! ideally, i would of preferred to do Colombia to Brazil and stop in Fortaleza but Air Canada doesnt fly from Forteleza, i would have to go to Sao Paolo...

maybe i can get a cheap domestic flight in Brazil ?

its probably best to stick to 3-4 countries in 3 months ..cheaper and more enjoyable ..you actually have time to spend in each places instead of just ticking away destinations ...

msk, browse the forum to get some ideas what other travellers did. If you have a more specific question, we'd be happy to try and answer it for you.

Hi msk,

I cannot offer you a lot of advise, but I will be doing something like you this summer, and maybe that can give you an idea where to start from!

I will be travelling ffrom mid June or 10weeks from Sao Paulo to Iguassu and then all the way through Paraguay, bolivia, through lake titicaca to southern peru, making my way up to the north, and then through the amazon back into northern Brazil!

There is a lot to see in SA, so my recommendation would be to try to stick to 3-4 countries, or an specific area!

Hope it helps!

Good Luck!!
