There seems to be a kind of duality to this whole process. Travelers are fortunate to have a site like this; but at the same time how can we put our trust in complete strangers. It probably might be better to go (or meet up with) with people that you already know. So I guess I have two questions
1.) I'm going to India & Europe in June and then July (with some parts of
each month in both regions), so how much time is adequate for finding
out whether you might meet up with TP members or not?
2.) Can anyone who is reading this give me actual (real life) encounters or
experiences with members on this site (when you have initiated
contact on this site)?
...should probably just take my chances when i hit pavement. Go out and meet some potential buddies or just fly solo. But I guess this can't hurt. Just don't know what to expect.
There's a lot of distrust in your post. What's the difference between coincidentally meeting fellow travellers, or arranging to meet them through TP? In either case, you're free at any time to part with them if you don't like them.
I disagree, I am simply just asking anyone who is a member on this site to
reflect for a bit. Like you, have you ever met up with any of TP's members?
Maybe my post is a bit confusing, its not a question of trust. I just feel a little bit skeptical. There are so many other factors that are affecting the
the timing of people coming and going to different destinations. I am just preparing myself for various scenarios and wasn't afraid to fly solo and meet
folks when I got there.
I just wanted to see someone write me a reply saying "Yea I met so and so
in Rome and man what an amazing time we had because..." or "Yea I met so and so and it was a bad trip because..."
Just want to read about one or two travel connections directly resulting from this site.
This will probably answer you question:
Who's met who?
