Quoting Purdy

I saw bugs (grasshoppers, cochroaches etc) along with likes of Starfish for sale in the market in Beijing - l didnt try them though. I got a picture of them HERE

I must say, they all are the most unusual color of blue!!!! Unless it's a blueberry - I say down with blue food!!!

There are quite a few cultures that like fried or chocolate covered ants. Supposedly cicadas are quite tasty but I can't say I'm ready to try either (ants or cicadas).

When I was sitting at a cafe, in Mexico, a woman came along, and put a basket of insects on the table, hoping to sell some to me. For eating, I presume.

Well, it's just an animal, like beef or chicken. They bake or cook it, boil it whatever and eet it with sauce. The taste is really good, sauce is not needed at all.
Maybe for westerners or people from Iran as well, it is not normal. But they eat things like dog, monkey, snake etc. as well.

But it's nice to learn from other cultures/people and their way of life. I think trying their food and drinks is part of that.

In Africa I was close to try Ants (the ones with the fat bottoms) and fried termites (the flying queens). For the ants I didn't feel adventerous it that day and there weren't enough termites around. For us it's like something exotic and unusual to try but for the people there it's a welcome (and more importantly free) change in diet. And there are literally millions of termites flying around at certain days, it's like a snowstorm almost.
I think if you're living in a country that's prone to droughts you'd pretty much eat anything just to survive.
But saying that, I draw the line at endangered species (eg. Shark fins) and killing of animals just to get parts of them (eg. Frog legs) as delicatesses. And I don't eat Horse, but that's for spiritual reasons more than anything else.
