I just found out all sorts of cool things about dor beettles that I didn't know. I knew they were dung beetles, but they are related to junebugs and scarab and staghorn beetles. Now there's a real meal, a staghorn beetle. I have a deceased one in a jar and he's huge. (He was deceased when I found him.)

Well, if it was dead, when u found it, then I suppose it is OK, to eat it. It just would not be right, to kill one especially.

He was dead and I didn't eat him. Yes, it's a "he" because the females do not have quite the large "staghorns" on their heads.

Insects aren't so bad. They do serve a purpose and the dor beetles are one of the good guys. I just happen to find insects really interesting, even the one that I don't care for - the tick. I haven't quite figured out their usefulness yet, but I'm sure they are good for something.

Maybe they're good for Bird food? Ah, you should have seen our beetle collection in Zambia, very nice. We found some interesting little critters - lots of weevils and the odd Rain Spider and our favourite 'Stevie the Scorpion'. He was cool... Blister beetles on the other hand are a different story...
