Does anybody has taken some hot air balloon flights in the australian outback lately? For example from Alice? And what are the costs?
Do I need to book well in advance, or just show up the day before?
Also, maybe some other places along the route from Melbourne to Darwin? Or nice heli flights, cesna flights etc? Arnhemland?
I just like that kind of trips, so any advice will be welcome.
I know you can definately do hot air balloon trips around Melbourne - and the Yarra Valley.
I have an idea you can also take hot air balloon trips around Hunter Valley also.
The balloon trips are usually at sunset or sunrise - when we were leaving Melbourne in Dec heading to the airport l saw about 6 on the horizon with the sunrising behind them - it looked amazing!
I think you can do like a champange breakfast deal as well.
I got a free Balloon ride at the Giles Weather Station, though its really remote. Its on the Great Central Road in Western Australia, near Warburton. They send up baloons every so often, and they seemed pretty eager for company (due to the isolation) so they offered to take me up for free. Its cool, but theres nothing to see except endless desert.
