well me and some friends are gonna go to london in summer vacation. but exept soho we dont know that much dustricts where to go, need an area where there are pubs and clubs an sth.. can anyone help? (by the way.. would be great to know some indieclubs etc in london..)
I did a quick google search and found this site - l dont know how good it is but lm sure its a start for you!
You should go to Leicester Square (next to Soho). That's the main street for parties and clubs. Club Sound, www.soundlondon.com, and Club the Paris are very nice, fancy, big clubs (restaurant, bar and night club). And you have Ruby Blue and Metra for example that are pure night clubs. When I was in London I also went to some Irish Bars- very cool and good music (pop, indie, ...).
If you like indie music Koko's, www.koko.uk.com, (Club NME- hosted by the magazine NME) is the place to be. There's a gig at least every friday with new or old indie (and similar genres) bands. Koko's is in Camden (northern london, about a 10 minute drive from Leicester Square). But you should try to get on the guest list, or get there early, becuase the queue is extremely long!! We ended up going to the Purple Turtle which was right across the street, but that was not a great club.
I met Kate from the Long Blondes (I don't know if you've heard about them) and she said we should go to Barfly and Waterbridge(?). A lot of great gigs from new acts at Barfly (think it's mostly indiemusic).
And remeber; the only valid ID's are drivers licence or passport. I come from Norway and thought I could use my credit card, but I couldn't.
Well, this is all I know right now. I'm going to London in April, so I guess I'll find some more clubs then!
Good luck! Hugs
oh no! Soho is TERRIBLE for nightlfe - all cheeesy bars with tourists! if you want really cool nightlife go to Kingscross or Camden. Esp for Indie clubs I would guess...
Turnmills nightclub was a goodnight out when i was there - but places change alot and depends on your taste.
For Indie tho not sure as I tend to go to clubs and goth/rock bars.

East London area is good for bars, clubs and cheap eats. Check out Old Street, Angel, Shoreditch and Aldgate, they're all pretty fun and not tacky and touristy like soho and leicester sq.
I'd definately suggest checking out the bars in Camden and Angel for places that are less touristy and cheesy! You might also want to head down to the south of London and check out the bars/clubs in Clapham - there's some good underground places there...
Good bars mmm well i seem to stagger into a fair few most areas.
Depending on if your into trendy bars, clubs or into live bands most areas surrounding the city centre have them.
Hammersmith has loads of good ones, there are the usual aussie/kiwi pubs such as the redback that have good live bands too.
Have fun, you'll definately find what your looking for somewhere when you get here. Mags like the TNT and Time Out have listings and gigs every week.
